Because it would be Portland putting together their own package. Putting together their own package gives them more options than having the Heat do it.

There's less than zero benefit in dragging it out unnecessarily.

Dragging it out to hope another star convinces dame he wants to play with him too

Thanks for the help.

It’s even dumber to bring on a Tyler Herro when you already have volume shooting guards who are turnstiles defensively.

You do understand that Portland doesn't have to keep him, right?

Maybe not...which would explain your post.

Also lets not forget Herro is 23 years old. I'm not even saying Portland should necessarily take him but the narrative around him is very nasty. If he was on the open market this offseason, he was going to get a big boy bag but now he sucks lol

He might be neutral value on his contract

That would also explain why it’s been so hard to flip him

Why are they doing miami’s job?

Miami should find him a home for picks and expiring deals

Yep! And even if there’s only a 1% chance that happens it’s still better than swallowing a bad deal immediately. That Herro deal will be on the table until Dame is dealt.

Oh shit! Really? I thought that once a team accrued an asset that they were obligated to keep the asset in perpetuity. Thanks for the assist.

Getting him Philly is something

Not ideal

But you can play him with maxey and Melton plus Joel and it’s workable.

Plus playing 5 out offense would be ridonkulous

I don’t have the balls to dream that dream. The way this goes is I lobby for Portland to be patient. Miami gets tired. Joel Embiid loses his shit over a tweet and now I’m taking Bam and Herro for Embiid and the Heats lonely two picks they can deal years from now haha.

For at least the 4th time in this thread...Because putting together their own deal gives Portland more options.

Not really. Right now you can aggregate salaries with Herro

After this trade you can’t for quite a while

Been saying this since Dame announced he wanted out and Miami was the place he wanted to go to.

Portland can acquire him and flip him.

Are Simons & Sharpe defensive stoppers that i dont know about?
That’s the issue. They already have too many guys that don’t particularly play good defenze. Herro is not awful but I would say he is average at best. What is the point having Simons and Herro? Scoot is the future. Then you have Sharpe coming off the bench. They still have a need for SF and C and they need a lot of defense.

They need young assets
Picks staggered in the next 3-5 years

Don’t forget they still owe chi a protected pick for the next like 5 seasons

No it didn’t. I already said earlier there’s a high likelihood that the asset is damaged when Herro is asked to play a role as the alpha on the team and gets exposed. You ignored that comment and are doubling down on just trade him again.

Only a moron wouldn't understand they don't have to keep him if they acquire Herro.
