I think if we are talking regular season (and that’s the debate here on Sixers o/u 50.5) then Doc and Nurse are likely interchangeable. In fact, gun to my head, I give a slight edge to Doc. Where I’m thinking the difference lies is in the playoffs (at least I’m hoping). Nurse’s creativity with defensive schemes as well as his ability to tweak and adjust make him suited for playoff competition. In this area, he puts Doc to shame. People told me before he got here that he has blown so many playoff leads because when the other team adjusts to what he’s doing, he just doesn’t have a counter or an ability to adapt on the fly. I saw that show up in the most recent series with the Celtics. The Sixers had a 3-2 lead. Boston decided to go back to the starting lineup that employed both Horford and RWIII and as of July 13th, Doc still hasn’t adjusted to that maneuver from a coach I think most would agree was the weak link for the Celtics this year.
as I said I do like the guy and would take him over Doc but just don't know if there is much proof to your theory. Yeah, he did it with healthy Kawhi and no Lebron but I'm confident in saying as much as he was ripped, in that situation, Casey would have gotten the Raptors to the Finals.

And if we are talking about over-under for the reg. season (which is how it started as you allude) your theory hurts Nurse as a so-called easy over.

I’ve seen Nurse in the playoffs and his ability to adjust is no joke. His team this year regressed though and he has to own that. However, that team didn’t make the playoffs so that thing that sets him apart (in my opinion) wasn’t applicable this past year. Sixers had a far superior team to his in 2022 and he gave them all they could handle after the Sixers went up 3-0 forcing a Game 6 before bowing out. I disagree on Casey. I don’t think he would have won a title with that team.

With that team and no Lebron....and Klay/Durant going down? I think he does.

Cannot say I followed Toronto all that closely but just seemed like they underachieved more often than not other than one magical year with Kawhi.

We don't know if he could be a #1 on a contender because he's never had a real contender level roster around him.
He made it to the conference finals and lost to the Warriors in 18/19. Doesn't that count as a contender? Dame/CJ/SCurry/Simons/Trent Jr/Nurkic, Aminu at the 4 for defense, etc.

When was the last time they were? And are you including the playoffs?

I'm saying the NBA is not a ratings contender in the US. We all watch, but who else does without a headlining star involved?

Defending Portland is ridiculous....this is a franchise that gave Grant 160 mill....think about that for a minute.

So, they need to build around Dame, they pay essentially a location fee to retain Grant and you are incredulous. Remember, those future years will be against ever increasing cap numbers. Projections are $142M, $156M, $171M, and $189M for the next 4 after this coming season.

But, gun to head? Yeah I think he could.

Miami would have 2 #1's in Butler and Dame.

He's 32, 6'2 and doesn't play much defense.

How many teams have won with a #1 at PG? True PG, not Lebron James linebacker PG. Dame is no Curry or Magic.

So 1 season out of how many years that Dame has been there?

I've already referenced this. In a 8 year stretch, the Blazers lost to the Western conference finals representative 5 times (the Warriors 3 times, the Lakers in the bubble, and the Spurs). Warriors x1 and the Lakers were champions.

They did have 3 early outs vs the Grizz, Pels, and Nuggets.

That 32yo had probably his best season...

32ppg, 7apg, 46%, 37%, 91%.

58 games can't be his best season. Another issue with Dame, he's only played 2/3 of his games over the past 4 years. Who will be the Heat's backup PG?

If that is true I wouldn’t bet on it happening ever again at that age. His clutchness likely doesn’t go away though.

He might have his most efficient season ever playing with Butler and Bam. The open looks he would get would be nuts.

Utah is apparently interested in taking on Herro, but giving up who? Portland isn't going to want Collins, Clarkson, Sexton or THT. Will they move Lauri?

He doesn't need to do that with Miami or any other good team he may end up on
