Dame has been incredibly loyal to Portland for years. He signed the contract because he wanted to be there, and because Portland management promised him they would try to build a winning roster around him.

Well, they got pick 3 and drafted a serious prospect in Scoot.

And instead of trading the pick for current help, they are keeping it and building around Scoot.

This is 100% the correct move for Portland, but they also broke their promise to Dame.

And that is why he is now wanting to be traded and using any leverage he has to get where he wants to be.

So, no, Dame is not a clown. He is just trying to make the most of the end of his prime years.

As just about anyone else in his situation might do.

Okay, but he is so dumb by picking only 1 team he is killing his market, and his ability to actually get traded. He likely would already be gone had he not done that. It's fine to want to leave, but demanding the team, i would tell him to kick rocks and play out his contract. He would be what 37 by the time his contract runs out...GL with that!

Well, at least there’s another villain to root against now in the NBA.

I’m not trying to rebuild anyone that I have to pay 30 mil per year.

The Thunder are a fringe playoff team.

Adding Simmons SUBTRACTS from that, depending on who they have to send out to get him.

Why in GAWDS NAME would they ever trade for him?

I mean…

I just said why.

Zero expectations for him to perform or lead in any way.

You get assets to take him on.

And if he isn’t working hard?

Send him home a la John Wall.

If he manages to start performing?

You have an young player who was all NBA just a couple seasons ago that you got for free.

It’s too late now but the Simmons deal is something the Thunder would have done two years ago. You take a depressed asset and you take on draft capital to take a bad deal off of someone’s hands. It also helps the Thunder get to the cap floor when they’re trying not to commit to future salary cap commitments. They then repair the asset and trade it for more draft capital. This is essentially what they did with Al Horford. But that was a couple years ago. The Thunder are at a different spot in their process now and are less likely to take on the damaged asset.

Yeah, OKC maybe not in the right place to be the team to take that project on.

Really just pushing back on the idea of zero chance.

That is the type of move that is up Presti’s alley.

It is actually not dumb at all

It hurts the Blazers for sure.

But depressing his market helps the team that trades for him actually be a contender.

If the Heat had to deal Bam and other good players, they wouldn’t be.

And Portland can still choose to keep him if they want, or trade him to a different team.

It’s amazing that the suns are getting better ring chasers than…the actual champs…

Not really.

Happens every year.

Ring chasers go to the team with the biggest names. That isn’t Denver.
