That is why Portland is going to be asking for more than draft picks and future assets. A long rebuild gets the current GM fired. He would be signing his own death certificate if that is all he takes back in the Dame trade. He needs to look at Simmons and Scoot and think they are going to be winning basketball players sooner rather than later and try and build a roster around them that helps make that happen.

People always forget that almost no GM actually makes a move based on the long term health of the organization. They makes moves that help them win enough games soon enough so that they are able to keep their jobs. And that is why Portland is almost assuredly going to be looking for some immediate impact in a trade package for Dame. If they don't get anything that helps them in the next 2 years, the GM can kiss his dream job he has been working his entire life for goodbye.

You are right with some exceptions like presti, hinkie and now stone (until now, although that’s more due to a terrible Morey trade than anything else)

I think with a rebuild he gets 3 years to start showing progress.

They probably won’t be tanktastically awful anyway with nurkic and Simon’s still there

Although the one thing Portland also lacks recently is good luck on the health front

Someone should take nurk. That’s not an awful contract when he a healthy

I’m curious if they’re keeping Simon’s or not.

He’s not huge (under 6-4) but has a 6-9 wingspan. It’s kinda the cj mccollum problem all over again

Yep. Not him because he’s cooked now. Cavs sorely needed that kind of guy and he couldn’t get playoff minutes with them. That’s telling for where he is now. That 3 and D wing is the missing piece.

It’s the missing piece if I continue the delusion that one day Embiid/Harden will be playoff risers and not playoff failure guys. Just being real, Sixers off season move discussion is really just moving around deck seats on the Titanic. It doesn’t matter. The ship is going down and we’re all going to be dead.

It’s like you’re trying to turn me on this morning…

Simons seems like the odd man out. Sharpe and Scoot on rookie deals and Sharpe fits right into the 2, Scoot can play the 1-combo guard. They can get more picks and expiring contracts for Simons or whatever. If they can end up with 5-6 1st's and one or two nice young players after trading Lillard and Simons that would be a win.

Honestly, I think the only other team Dame would be happy to get traded to is Boston especially if they don't give up Brown. Even w/o Brown, Tatum-Dame and depth is pretty damn good.

Most realistic trade-Brown for Lillard swap.

Less likely-Boston sends more salary filler to make up the additional $4M needed to send

Bored this morning. More trade machine.

Should Toronto do this? Siakam, OG and Dame

The same with Bam....

If Portland wanted him as the centerpiece....Miami should do it. He is a good player but shouldn't be a deterrent to getting Dame.

Yeah, I disagree.

Guards like Maxey are a lot easier to replace than bigs like Bam.

Just not many guys out there who can defend all over the floor and be a significant contributor offensively.

And I don’t think Miami wins with Dame, Butler and no Bam.

You told me last offseason Barnes was untouchable.

Believe it was when we were discussing KD...
Wasn't that including OG too? I believe they were...could be wrong. I still believe Toronto would not trade Barnes for just about any player especially a 33 year old PG

I can't remember.

I can barely remember what I ate last week.
