Yep. I get the Blazers saying a Herro centered package isn't enough and they want Martin too.

Instead of saying they have no interest in an all star caliber player, they should do like the Pels did in the AD negotiations and be like Oliver Twist,,,

LOL.

Embiid isn’t stopping Shaq.

But…

If you think Shaq is the best player in the league today, joke is on you.

Rules have changed and the game is changed to greatly devalue Shaq’s skill set.

You can’t just throw it to a big in the low post and watch him work anymore.

All the best bigs today have multiple offensive skill sets.

Shaq would be good today. But there is a reason bugs who can’t score from the perimeter and struggle to defend pick and roll have been devalued.

That is Shaq.

He would still be good for sure. But nowhere near the best player.
Those rule changes are because of Shaq. Which I think settles the debate on who is more dominant.

I would be genuinely curious to see Prime Shaq step out to the perimeter on defense. He was plenty athletic to step out and keep in front of his man, he just never needed to.

Yep....

Many forget the time he got the rebound on the defensive end and went coast to coast for the dunk...!!!!

I don't think in any scenario he adds a perimeter aspect to his offense, but I am very confident he could step out on defense and shut down a perimeter game. Shaq just moved different for a guy that size.

The counter to that is that, under the current rules, there would be absolutely no way to stop Shaq in the paint. In his era, guys got away with holding him, grabbing at him, trying to dislodge him, etc.

Because it was the only chance anyone had to slow him down and the league was more physical anyway, the refs let a lot of that go.

In todays game, those same tactics would get guys in foul trouble quickly and some of them would be flagrant fouls.

While I agree that some of todays bigs would fare better against him because of their range, Shaqs vulnerability in that area during his prime was more about being lazy than not being able to. Also, coaches can scheme to cut down on Shaq having to defend the perimeter. Can't really scheme to stop what he can do in the paint on offense.

Pretty crazy he is the sticking point. Even with Martin their package is underwhelming.

What's on the menu?

I have that other Tomahawk Ribeye from Fathers Day that my son and I are going to split. Got a smaller New York strip for the wife. Corn on the cob and homemade ice cream. Trying to decide if I'm gonna do some "ribbons" of peanut butter in the ice cream.

Okay, that makes some sense. I can see why Miami would not want to give up both Herro and Martin.

The Blazers need a better PR person or something because flat out saying they have "no interest" in a player of Herro's quality is making them look stupid, imo.

This isn't the Lakers trying to overvalue THT. Herro is an actual good player and he's young. Seems like exactly what they should be looking for.

And his contract isn't as bad as some that just got paid in FA.

A contract just handed out in fa

Grants lol
