Surprise surprise. The Head Masshole thinks Lillard’s best shot for a title is in Boston. Bill Simmons is more Fan Boi than he is media.

I mean…

He is probably right.

But still a bad look.

Yep they added role pieces but it was a lot of swapping in and out

Not all the pieces they swapped in are necessarily better than the pieces swapped out

Schroeder and Vincent are about even.

Other than that, they lost Beasley, Mo Bamba, Troy Brown Jr and Gabriel Vincent. None of those players got a lot of playing time in the playoffs and were easily replaced by better role players.

Maybe that's part of what the tweet @Mecca posted about players watching how Portland treats Dame was talking about?
Yeah it matters how you treated. Guys the caliber of Dame dont have to stay as long as he did. They can do a bron. Get the big money rookie ext then leave by year 7 or 8....possibly sooner if they make it clear i have no intentions of signing back after my rookie ext deal is up

Bama healthy is better than the center they brought in from the pels imo

Reddish is as streaky as Beasley but can do a little more so slight advantage there

Prince is better than Brown

Im going to make a guarantee now. Not all of the lakers signings will be a part of their playoffs rotation

I’m taking Shaq in that Embiid match up

I’m not.

Embiid can do more things.

Neither is locking the other down by any stretch.

But I think Embiid gets the best of him over time.

As tough a cover as Shaq would be for Embiid, I guarantee Shaq wants no part of guarding Embiid at the 3 point line and on face ups.

Has something changed with Beasley? I read recently that the Lakers still have a couple of spots and were considering bringing him back.

I get that but i think Dame woild rather stay in Portland than go to another team with a similar roster construction and going nowhere. He wants to go somewhere he can win a title...not another Portland situation.

Top players will never stay at a small market again if they decide to trade him to utah or something
Dude please.

If the bag is big enough, they will stay.

I get that, but there aren’t many like Dame either. He is the kind of person that benefits from a team and one for all type thing. He got a lot out of that just like the team did. He was in the kind of situation he wanted to be in for a lot of years and he flourished in that environment. I think he is going to get his wish but people can’t get upset at the Blazers, certainly not yet anyway. They have to play hardball for a little while at least.

No offense but I'll take the word of those who been around teams/this league for 10,20,30, or etc years who saw this happened briefly. I have heard this from multiple people within the NBA that this is a real thing.

You don't think Dame could have gotten a max bag outside of Portland? LOL

Bad teams aren’t giving up assets for dame

I think the worst team Inretested in him is the pelicans who were the 1 seed until zion and Ingram both got hurt

The players seem to have helped themselves with teams having to be at 90 percent of the cap at season open instead of season end. It’s not and shouldnt be all about the elite players.

but they lost a lot on the back end with the second apron, including aggregating salaries and bird rights traps

Not to mention guys taking the minimum vs the mle

Portland was certainly able to pay him more right? It would be stupid of the players to make a thing of this, extremely stupid. They have had owners playing ball with them for quite a while. That could easily change.

It's not about who they added, it's about who they brought back. This team was put together at the deadline and went to the WCF. they brought back the main core and with a full training camp and season together, they should be better.

Not saying they will come out of the West, but they are right there in the mix.

Of course, the health of Lebron and AD will be the biggest factor for them. On paper, they should be able to keep from bottoming out if they have to be without either of them for a few games here and there. Especially if they're not out at the same time.
Hey I totally agree with your post- you are bringing everyone back, except the team is more expensive and LeBron is a year older.

and last year you had the good fortune of LeBron and Davis both being healthy for the playoffs which is far from a guarantee.

I dont think it is a thing yet but if they trade him to a shitty team to be spiteful then it will be. As i said earlier, he would prefer to stay in Portland then be disrespected and intentionally sent to another bad team with no chance at a title. People been begging dame to leave Portland for at least 4 years now. He stuck it out until he felt they stopped trying to move forward. That CJ deal is probably when he started to realize that he may not finish his career here
