Who's done better this preseason?

That’s besides the point.

5 kids get a F on a test and 1 gets a D …. Are you gonna say the kid that got a D “Did a hell of a job “????

You seem to say stuff just to say stuff whether it’s correct or incorrect.

Are we trying to find good players or "the least shitty"?

Let's not answer a question, let's deflect to something else.

JJ Taylor has been on the Patriot's roster for a couple of years. He wasn't great but Bill didn't cut him before now.
All of a sudden he's least shitty? Who was shittier returning kicks this preseason?

I was commenting on the premise you asserted and not the player.

JJ sucks. Cannot play in NFL with any consistency. In 2022 he carried 10 times for 0 yards averaging 0 yards per.carry.
He's 5'6" and really good except at this level.

We can argue until our teeth fall out, but let's look at the reality of the 2023 Patriots roster on the offensive side.

1 QB. Normally every team has at least two QBs on the active roster. The Patriots have pretty much told Zappe that he's not good enough to be on the roster and they kept him on "just in case" basis. Mac Jones has never had a mentor. Don't say Cam Newton. He was fighting for his football life.
How would you feel about the Patriots giving up a 5th round pick for Davis Mills of the Texans?

2 RB. Historically a team keeps at least 4. These guys take a pounding and most of them get nicked or have a bad enough injury during the year that they're on the sideline in civies for a few weeks. Will Kevin Harris be taken off the PS when the OL is settled? Or will the Packers get Johthan Taylors and be dangling Dillon?

2 TE. Henry and Gesicki might be a deadly Red Zone combo, but Gesicki has been in a red, no contact jersey. Bill did put a couple on the PS. Pharoh Brown is a good blocker, no much for catching the ball downfield. Sokol is serviceable but isn't much of a blocker.

11 OL This has been a bone of contention since last February. Bill has picked up four bodies and Calvin Anderson is back from NFI. Is the RT position set? Owenue and Strange are practicing after spending training camp in the tub. If they are healthy the OG slots are all set. How many OL do we keep and what happens to the extra bodies? Trade for veteran backup QB? Trade for third or fourth RB? Trade for third TE? Teams are scouring for playable OL.

Thoughts?

JJ has the same formula as Danny Woodhead and Dion Lewis. Unfortunately he just can't seem to make it into a potion. Having the formula just isn't enough.

Dunno Ken, relax man. It’s only another season. The rebuilding on the move is catching up, making people irritated.
Were the Patriots supposed to be magnificent forever? :)

Honestly, I feel none of what you said makes any difference at all. The roster is set, the positions are laid out, time to stop whining and play football. Each coach, GM, team do the best they can with what they have, we are no different!

You suggest Mac needs a mentor and then you throw Mills name out there. They were both drafted in ‘21. How is Mills going to play the role of mentor when he has less playing time than Mac?

How about this: Only a fool reads into BB's moves. We won't know shit until the IR is set and more players are moved back to the 53. My take on Baily is BB just gambled nobody would take him, and there's no "you are not good enough", instead the message is "we did what's best for the team and gambled you'd be back".

Thoughts?
1) alternate reallity
2) Zappe is better than Davis Mills
3) Gesicki is still out of the red, no-contact jersey and practicing
4) OL is in flux. We will know more after 2 weeks of practice with the starters!
5) Season has not started yet - the sky is falling. Every year Ken - the sky is falling.
Do you get up every morning and say, "this is going to be a bad day?"

Belichick and O'Brien seem like competent enough mentors. Maybe I'm crazy.

Am I a bad fan as I haven't a care about the roster yet?

Honestly I don't think that much about it until the first game of the season. I still like you guys going back and forth on it though.
Very entertaining

In other words, in Bill you trust.

No, you are a logical fan. Coaches work these players out, and the attempt to put the best players on the field at any given position. That may be a scheme player, or an uber athletic guy, but the all attempt to put the best players on the field. And none of us know how that will or will not work out. Until we see the team in a full game or two none of us know shit
