Kind of felt like Torts lost us the game against the Flames by keeping the goalie pulled after we pulled within 1 goal with 3:24 left in the game. We had momentum and with plenty of time to go we should put Errsson back in until later in the game.

Canada knocked out in an embarrassing loss to Czechia on a goal scored with 11 seconds to go .Oliver Bonk had a very good tourney.

US is up 6-1 heading into the 3rd. Gauthier going into todays action is tied for 2nd in points with 8 points in 4 games played.

Chy and Retro: How about those Rams !!! Wooohoooooo!!! :suds:
I think the over/under on wins this year was 6.5. Nice having two teams exceeding all expectations.

Maybe I spoke too soon. After thinking there won't be a losing streak this year, they now have three. WTH?

Not worried about it, they will bounce back, totally different squad IMO. The glaring truth is even though we're playing well and being competitive, we are still a ways away from a serious run. Still need a solid 1-2 pairing defensively and another pure goal scorer. I'll wait for further comment once the ESPN analyst has been here to break it down for us no nothing hockey fans.

I agree 100% a bounce back is in order.

We looked like a tired team on the last game of a long west coast road trip.

We also ran into 2 of the hottest teams in the league in Seattle and Edmonton.

Nathan McKinnon put up 29 points in the month of December.

Our top center has 24 for the entire season.

Exactly, you either need a hell of a defensive unit to shut those guys down, or you need to score with them, your not going to win very many grind games against teams like that.

Could be on the move

Sean Walker — There’s a reason Walker, a pending unrestricted free agent, is fifth on the most recent trade board. He’s a player that would be relatively easy for a team to fit on its roster with his low cap hit ($2.65 million), he’s a coveted right-shot defenseman, and he’s taken his game to another level while getting more than 20 minutes per night for the first time in his career.
Nick Seeler — Seeler is even cheaper than Walker, making the league minimum and also a pending UFA. And, he’s a prototypical playoff-type defenseman, playing a reckless game all over the ice that forces opposing teams to keep their heads up — all while posting the best shot-attempt percentage on the team for defensemen (52.5 percent). There’s even been speculation that Walker and Seeler, currently the Flyers’ second pair, could be dealt together.

Morgan Frost — Tortorella has said he doesn’t envision Frost as a third- or fourth-line center. But another team or coach might. At this point, it’s doubtful that the inconsistent Frost is going to be a long-term solution on one of the Flyers’ top two lines, so a change of scenery here might be best for both parties.

Rasmus Ristolainen — If the Flyers decide they want to re-sign Walker rather than deal him, that probably means they’d have to move Ristolainen and his $5.1 million cap hit through 2026-27. Listed at No. 25 on our trade board, there could very well be a team out there looking for more size on its blue line. After all, a huge defense core helped guide the Vegas Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup last year, and the 6-foot-4 Ristolainen is still not yet 30 years old.

Marc Staal — Staal has lately been pushed out of the lineup by Egor Zamula, which no one in the organization should be all that upset about. It seems likely that the veteran could be gotten for a late-round pick at this point. The Flyers should get whatever they can for him.

Only in the right deal

Carter Hart — Several NHL teams figured they were Stanley Cup contenders this season, only to be let down by their goalies so far. Might there be a team out there willing to part with draft picks and/or prospects for Hart, a pending restricted free agent? Maybe. That said, teams may be wary to take on any player that was on the Team Canada roster for the 2018 World Junior Championships, pending the results of that investigation.
Ryan Poehling — The Flyers might have envisioned the 24-year-old Poehling as a trade chip when they signed him to a one-year, $1.4 million deal. The way he’s played, though, it’s probably more likely they’ll attempt to keep him around as a versatile depth center with good speed and hockey sense (which, by the way, he’s hoping happens).

Scott Laughton — Laughton has struggled at times this season, and has been centering the fourth line now for a couple weeks. If this was a fantasy hockey roster, he would be a prime candidate to get traded. But as the only Flyers player to wear a letter, he’s much too valuable from a culture standpoint, unless a team is willing to overpay for his services.

Seems unlikely

Noah Cates — It’s worth mentioning that Poehling’s improvements could make Cates expendable, as he was struggling mightily to produce offense before breaking his foot. It will be interesting to see where Cates slots in when he returns, which should be shortly. Going back to the wing seems like the most likely situation. Still, trading Cates now wouldn’t make much sense as the Flyers would be selling low on a guy with just one goal and four points in 21 games.

Joel Farabee — Headed into Tuesday night’s game, Farabee is second on the Flyers in even-strength scoring with 23 points. It’s a wonder why he hasn’t gotten more power-play time. Regardless, his improvements make him much more likely to stick around, as his $5 million cap hit for four more seasons could end up being a bargain.

Cam Atkinson — Atkinson’s scoring has dried up, and he could even be a candidate to come out of the lineup when Cates returns. With a $5.875 million cap hit, the Flyers might just have to hope that he ends the season strong so they can move him in the offseason.

Egor Zamula — It’s still no sure thing that Zamula, who’s big but sometimes looks too slow, will be a part of the team’s rebuild. But he’s made enough improvements in recent weeks that he’s likely to stick around, unless he’s a part of a trade for another young player.

Garnet Hathaway — The Flyers have put a premium on icing a tough fourth line, often starting the trio at the opening faceoff to provide energy. Hathaway is the straw that stirs the drink there, and with another season on his contract, the Flyers won’t want to give up that part of their identity.
Nic Deslauriers — See above. Further, Deslauriers has two years left on his deal after this season, so it’s doubtful any team would be targeting him anyway.

Not going anywhere

Travis Konecny — A subject of trade rumors in the past, Konecny has a shot at 40 goals this season and is still just 26 years old. He’s also the embodiment of the team’s hardworking identity, as evidenced by his success on the penalty kill. Moving him now makes zero sense.

Sam Ersson — The young goalie is pushing Hart for more playing time, and has a two-year extension at what could be a bargain $1.45 million cap hit kicking in next season.

Travis Sanehim — After nearly getting dealt over the summer, Sanheim now looks like a mainstay on the blue line for years to come. That’s especially encouraging, considering he’s signed through 2031.

Sean Couturier — Couturier seemingly picked up where he left off after missing two seasons, and has arguably been the Flyers’ most important forward. Further, no team would take on a player with his injury history who’s signed through 2030.

Owen Tippett — Teams don’t move 24-year-old forwards that have the potential to score 25-35 goals for the next 10 years.

Tyson Foerster — While the Flyers are still waiting on his offense, Foerster has improved enough in other areas of the game to believe he’s going to be an NHL player for a long, long time.

Bobby Brink — Brink has shown plenty of potential and is still just 22 years old.

Cam York — The jury is out as to whether York can become a true No. 1 defenseman and power-play quarterback. But he’s defended well and found chemistry with Sanheim, and is looking more and more like he’ll be a valuable core piece.
