For sure Maverick. A bunch of somebody's didn't like defense and offense ruled. Geez, if you blinked, you might have missed another puck in the net. But, I'll take the point and remaining third in the East with all of the fireworks!
It's going to be an absolute dogfight in the Metro. 6 teams separated by 7 points and probably a lot of people would've taken those last two teams (Pens 6th and Devils 7th) to finish top 3 or 4 in the division. Only 4 or 5 of us could possibly make the playoffs, so several teams are going to be left out. The Isles and Caps won't go away and it seems like every division game goes to overtime.

It will be really interesting to see what Danny Briere does at the trade deadline if we are still firmly in the playoff hunt at that stage. We just saw how much a guy like Seeler means to this team. Are you going to trade him away when we're in a playoff spot or are you going to hold him to take our shot, but then risk losing him for nothing in the offseason!? I'm certain that he (and Walker too) will be in extremely high demand.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

I saw the USA game yesterday and kept a close eye on Gauthier. He didn't play his best game but was really good on the PP. That is normal for him but what wasn't normal is his passing has gotten much better. He used to just shoot shoot shoot when he got the puck. Now he controls the PP and looks for the best scoring option instead of just blast it on net. He picked up a really nice assist and could've had 2 more. He looks much more in control as a player playing without that puck hog Logan Cooley like last tourney.

I only saw the 3rd period of the Canadian game but from what i saw he looked OK and wasn't afraid to mix it up in the corners.

From the hockey news:

During his time in Russia, Michkov has accumulated 277 points across the KHL (73—22-29-51), MHL (84—68-39-107), and VHL (12—10-4-14). He has an outstanding 0.87 points per game in draft year, plus 1 season with HC Sochi, the best by a U-19 player in KHL history. He has surpassed Evgeny Kuznetsov, Kirill Kaprizov, and Alex Ovechkin.

The million dollar question is, how do we get him out of Russia ASAP?

Another million dollar question. If we are deep in the playoff hunt come end of the season, would you be willing to add Giroux to our rooster if the price was right? I believe he has one more season after this on his current contract, I think his hit next year is like 4.5. If he came back at a decent price I'd do it. We'd def need more offense going into the playoffs and not sure what the Sens could realistically get for him in a trade situation.

Do you have a specific reason as to why? Just curious on your take, he would def be able to help out out anemic power play.
I don’t think Giroux makes this a better team, especially the way tortellini has them playing.

I think Giroux is a very good individual player, but he doesn’t lead by example. He doesn’t play every shift hard - sometimes gets lost figure skating aimlessly. When he gets pissed and plays to his ability he is an elite player, but that’s only for a percentage of his TOI.

Fair. He def never got to the level of consistent eliteness I had hoped for either.

We've now beaten arguably the two best home ice teams in the Nhl on their home ice (Vancouver and Colorado) and by a comfortable 3 goal margin in each game. Do you think maybe this team looks forward to such challenges!? It sure as hell looks that way!!

Zamula drifts one home from the point on the power play to open the scoring, Walker snipes one home after a gorgeous feed from Tippett that sent him in alone and Farabee dekes former Penguin DeSmith out of his net for a breakaway goal and 3-0 lead in just 2 minutes and 6 seconds of the 2nd period to essentially end this game. An offensive explosion from a team that averages just under 3 goals in an entire 60 minute game.

Vancouver came out strong in the 3rd and scored quickly, but that was soon answered by Hathaway shorthanded after Farabee took a massive hit and Atkinson stepped in to tackle a much bigger man to the ice. These plays where our guys back each other up man to man really get the team charged up and we do some pretty fantastic things afterwards, even while down a man. The pass by Poehling to Hathaway on this goal basically beat 3 Canucks and gave him two wide open cracks at the net, the second of which he buried to make it 4-1 and put an end to any potential rally.

Lost in all of this (because it didn't matter), Ersson left due to supposed dehydration (Where in the hell was Bobby Boucher on this one?) early in the 3rd and Konecny also left early in the 3rd. Both are not expected to miss any time thankfully, but also, Hart got in there and made a few really nice saves to completely lock this game down. I'm sure he will get the start tomorrow night at Seattle.

We have the best record in the Nhl over the last 21 games. Our road record of 11-4-3 is the 3rd best. I would argue that our penalty kill combined with our ability to score while shorthanded is the very best as well. Dallas, L.A. and Calgary are there too, but we are absolutely right with them.

Besides needing a little scoring boost at times, especially on the power play, this Flyer squad has it all right now. Is it enough to compete with the fucking Rags atop the division? That we have yet to find out, but we are passing nearly every single challenge as of late. Quite frankly, many teams cannot hang with us and that includes some of the best that the league has to offer.

After tonight, Torts may actually be the frontrunner for the Jack Adams Award, given to the coach of the year.

Idk what more to say. This is really exciting to watch and in ZERO way do I think it is a fluke. This team plays as hard as any and with so much youth, there's room to get better. GO FLYERS!!

We have the best record over the last quarter of a season in the entire league. Beat the team with the most points yesterday. I think that makes us the best team in the league.

19-11-4, tied with Carlina and Florida for third place in the East. We are kickin' some serious booty and I just love watching this team, constructed by Briere and Torts totally shock people some nights. The viciousness has returned and I believe teams are starting to look over their shoulders. Our PP is slowly improving and our penalty kill is top shelf. Our defense is the team's hallmark and I am pretty sure this team can just about do what they want in almost a moment's notice. No long-term losing streak this year!!!
