Risto played his best game of the year and hopefully keeps doing so so his trade value sky rockets.

The Flyers are 6-0-2 in their last eight games. They’re back in second place in the Metropolitan Division by themselves. After 30 games, they are 17-10-3. Those who figured their early-season success has been at least somewhat of a fluke have to be having second thoughts now that more than a third of the season is in the rearview mirror.

Perhaps instead of labeling it an unexpectedly hot start, it’s time to start considering whether this is simply who the Flyers are.

Make no mistake about it, Travis Konecny is the one constant offensive stud on this team, but he was also that for us last season. The difference this season is the return of Couturier/Atkinson, Sanheim maturing from a boy to a man, the emergence/growth of kids like Farabee, Tippett, Brink, Foerster, York and Zamula, plus Ersson stepping up huge in the absence of Hart. Also, not to be left out, the acquisition of Walker has been vital.

Essentially, we're much healthier and we're much deeper. Everyone buys into the system and plays for one another. Our penalty killing is now one of the best units in the entire Nhl. Don't tell me Sean Couturier doesn't play a massive role in that either. We play with the lead often and about as well as anyone does.

The only real criticism of this team currently is that we could play a little better on home ice and our power play just isn't getting the job done. Neither of these things have mattered much recently as we keep winning games and piling up points against everyone on the schedule.

So now, after the Devils got cooled off yesterday via a hat trick from ex-player Henrique (I fucking love it), can we avenge our Nov. 30th OT loss to them tomorrow night on the road?

It's without question the biggest game of the season as everyone probably expects the Devils to overtake us in the standings at some point. Well, for now, we're 4 points up, but they have a game in hand. Massive opportunity here to slow them down!!

I agree 100% that his hustle is key to the 4th lines solid forecheck.
I forgot to mention he is a solid shot blocker and a very good PKer which is why he is averaging just 7 seconds less on the PK per shift than our stud PKer couts.

Yep, our PP is still a little lame but maybe it will get better as the season continues and maybe it will get better at home.

Another maybe wrinkle emerging is our capacity for comebacks. We had one against the Caps that suggested that this defense-dominated team may just be able to wear down the opponent so they are vulnerable in the Third.

We shall see!

I'd like to see Brink get some time on that top PP, kid always seems to be where the puck is and is a very good passer.

I agree that the PP may get better that will be great for their confidence.

Although i like a good comeback i like when we score first and never trail much better as im sure everyone does. :heh: :suds:
