It would be huge if they could get a 1st rounder for Walker. Have to move him. He's been great, but can't turn down that price. Even in the most optimistic of timelines, at 29 I don't know that he maintains this level long enough to be a reliable top-4 guy when they're contending.

First rounder i believe is too much of a price to pay for Walker. If I'm a team trading for him the most id offer is a 2nd rounder even though i love how he's playing for us. With Sanheim and Ristos contract on defense already it would be silly for us to sign him and not trade him. It would be great if Danny B could find a way to move Risto as well as Walker.

If you start gutting the team that hurts the overall effort which hurts the great development we are seeing out of the young guys right now.

For a 2nd, that is not enough to bail on the season so early.

Are you proposing we keep Walker and lose him as a free agent for nothing at the end of the year?

That's worth almost as much as the 2nd rounder if you improve 20-30% of the roster with winning and playoff experience.

Winning and going to the playoffs also ups the value you can get in a trade over the summer for guys like Couturier, Konecny and others.

The one biggest problem with this theory is you have us in the playoffs.

Its a long season what happens if we dont make the playoffs?

Another problem is at almost 8 million per year until 2030 and NMC not many teams rushing out to trade for Couts over the summer. When i say not many i mean nobody.

As much as I like Coots, at this point and time he's not quite Top line center. Could improve over the season but yeah, his contract would be a lot for a team to take on unless they thought he would be the missing link

Was thinking of going to this game, but then thought about the travel, prices, and how I'd be pissed if they lost and said nah.

This team is really coming together and I don't think anyone (even the couple of complete idiots on this board) can argue that Coots and TK aren't magical together right now. They are a legitimate, elite top line duo. The pass Coots made to spring TK for the first goal last night was ridiculous. TK is a goal scoring machine and several youngsters are starting to snipe pucks home too...Farabee, Tippett and Foerster to name a few.

Carter Hart is playing perhaps the best hockey of his career and I don't even think he has had to be THAT great because he's getting so much help defensively via blocked shots and just all hands on deck when needed. When he needs a break, Ersson is playing very well in relief too. Somehow our defense is better without the likes of Provy. Sanheim, York, Walker, Seeler and Zamula are growing into steady Nhl defenders before our very eyes. They're even scoring goals lately too.

Our penalty killing and ability to score first and dominate games start to finish on the road are right up there with perhaps any other team in the Nhl right now. Sure, we definitely got some puck luck last night, but we also kind of earned it. I thought we made Colorado look kind of bad on their home ice. Netted 5 goals and it probably could've been more if we're being real.

Noah Cates (a very good, young player for us) remains out, but since we have Couturier getting back into form and Laughton/Frost in the mix, you barely notice it at all. We have the depth this season that we did not have last season, virtually at every position.

About the only thing we can't do is score on the power play, but we kill penalties and score shorthanded so often that it hardly matters as of late.

I absolutely love my Flyers right now.

W T F !?!?!?!
Yep. We've swept Crosby/Malkin and the Pens in a home and home, cooled off the Yotes, beat the '22 Cup Champs on their ice and avenged half of our losses to date already. I can't wait to play the Caps in Philly on Thursday, quite frankly, and see what we can do with them.

None of us who know hockey didn't see this coming, that being said, it seems some good chemistry has been brewing on some of these lines. I like the new play style. Seems like about 5 games ago they actually started moving the puck better out of the defensive zone and it has been a 100% improvement. The flip side of the coin is if you do make a run your not going to be able to stand pat, it's just not there, even with Hart playing great. So where does that leave you in terms of improving. There is Cutter coming in next season, could he be a Makar? Maybe but it's a lot of ifs still.

Who is a top line center you are talking about? We cant trade one if we dont have one.

Not to mention he is getting paid almost 8 million until 2030 and he is 31 year old right now and has an MNC with a 10 team kicker.

100% correct. Tied for 95th in points doesn't scream out top center.

Ok so what are the top line guys getting paid? What's a top 2nd line center worth, if you're a hater of one of our best players?
