Can a cap guru explain what the benefit of cutting him over getting literally anything for him is?

From what I heard, designating him a June 1 saves $10 million vs cap. Trading him would only save $1.3 million.
We have more than enough to go get Za'Darius Smith and Bobby Wagner. Doubt we will, but they can't hide behind cap space. After waiving Collins they are like $30 million under the cap

Boom! Armstrong back for the Cowboys! He has gotten better every year. One less sack than Gregory last year.

I don’t usually put much credence into things like this, but with all that is going on with the Cowboys front office it seemed interesting

I’m going to hold my judgement until I see the details and will assume this is max and that it is really nowhere near that, but seems a little (ok a friggin lot) rich for Armstrong. Every year we sign 3 of our own average guys instead of one stud and never learn that it is a guaranteed road to mediocrity.

Paying the guy half as much as Randy and he has not traditionally made bone headed plays or gotten suspended so I will withhold judgement on this one. This player has been on upside. No need to overpay for Kearse. I am sure he is mad he is not getting the money he thinks he deserves.

So early in free agency, we have lost 4 starters including our best receiver. 2 OL who can probably be replaced without missing a beat. A DE who was electric but inconsistent and incapable of staying on the field consistently over his 7 years and our most polished and best route runner. We essentially traded an all pro to save 4 to 6 million against the cap to sign a younger receiver coming off an ACL. To me this off season will largely be determined based on how productive Gallup is versus Cooper. Otherwise, we really have not added anything to a team that struggled to beat good teams last year and actually lost some very good talent.

LVE on a one year deal…

I’m OK with it. He wasn’t terrible last year and he actually played last year. He needs to establish himself and the Cowboys can use him.

Yep, 1 year and it seems no other team showed much interest so it's probably a cheap deal.

He needs to play like his rook season if he wants to get paid.

You are so right. Every year they sign three average guys instead of one stud. They just will never get it. Jerry! your philosophy on free agency is not working.

We are rolling now! We were the last team to not have signed an outside free agent, but we just signed James Washington from Pittsburgh. We back!!!!
