Prepare for the slowest knee sprain recovery in the history of medicine. lol

All he has to do is put some of that Ray Lewis brand deer antler spray on his hurting knee and it'll be totally fine in 24 to 48 hours.

Nah, sit him and wait for a trade at the deadline (or before).

There are trades that will be worth using up most or all of next season's expected cap space. Next year's crop of FA is not overwhelming.

The only teams that are going to want him are teams looking to unload long term contracts for Russ' expiring. And given that next year's crop of free agents is not great, that isn't likely to be a long list.

Just trying to picture what sort of team is going to want to trade for Russ.

I watched last night's Lakers loss to the T-wolves again. Westbrook sucked as usual. Missed threes, FTs, effed-up passes. At one point James had 25 points and AD had like 19 points and Westbrook had 5 points. Didn't he just get done telling reporters he is a good shooter and that he is confident he'll be a significant contributor this year maybe even earning an MVP? LOL!

flyerhawk, thunderc, bks, and others on here are correct. Ya have to be totally out of your mind to trade for this guy and any trade the Lakers (which will be short-term in nature) will hurt them long-term.

Imagine if Russ could swallow his pride and just play within the system and do what the Lakers needed? He would turn the Lakers around and probably extend his career 3 or 4 more years. But that seems close to impossible.

Pride is a mother f'er.

Has Westbrook's legacy been revised? Yeah, he won an MVP and had those triple double seasons, but it was because of high usage. He's the greatest stat padder ever, but how great of a player is he really?

Maybe the best athlete to ever play in the league. You said player but nothing changes that.

You better pray Xmas comes early.

He's checked out completely.

Maybe, but is Beverly really going to lead that team and expect people to follow him? Russ needs to change his game, no matter where he is, but he has gotten a bad rap in LA. He deserves some of it though.

Russ was always a bad fit in LA because he is so ball dominant and so unwilling to do the work off ball that is necessary when playing on a Lebron team. And now that he's lost a step it becomes even more of a problem.

No question a bad fit and I’m sorry but putting it all together tarnishes anyones legacy that was involved.

Don't forget Russ stepped out of bounds twice on a routine type of play. He's so awful, they need to trade him or sit him out, trying to give him minutes even off the bench is detrimental to the team.

LeBron & AD had already won a title without him. If anything this make Russ look even worse.

He has the perfect situation. Along side two other future HOFers where he wouldn't have to be counted on as the guy. And it's not working for him.

There's a reason why before this season he played for four teams in four years. He's a chemistry killer.

I don't think its all on him.

He's the only one being asked to sacrifice and I'm sure that has to chafe.

But, he's a square peg in a round hole and it just isn't going to work.

Stepping.out of bounds twice is just a lack of concentration.

Not huddling up is just defiance.

He's checked out.

Pacers for one. Teams like the Spurs and Jazz, still looking to cut more future salary during the tank perhaps. The number of tanking teams (and which teams) could shift on a dime should injuries hit.

That oft-discussed Pacers trade only involves one extra year of Hield. If he was a free agent next summer, he might be their target anyway (or Turner). That trade would provide both, but of course then those golden draft picks come into the discussion.

Beverley isn't leading anyone. It's still Lebron's team and will be for a few more years.

I don't care if Russ' bad rap is his own doing or not. He's a square peg and needs to move if/when the opportunity is presented.

Russ has always been a first class ass at times. A lot in OKC overlooked it but a lot of us saw it. No way in hell that guy is going to defer to Beverly on anything, it’s not happening. I agree they need to move him, just don’t know where.

Sure. Those teams will take on Russ' contract. If you attach some assets that they want. Namely draft picks.

Westbrook's contract being an expiring contract makes it a negative asset rather than a toxic asset. But it doesn't make much sense for a bad team to trade for him just to unload salary for next year.

People tend to value expiring contracts way more than they are worth.
