This John Walling stuff is a new phenomenon in the modern day NBA and perhaps the big, long contracts that GM's are more frequently dolling-out these days is at least a partial contributor to the existence of the phenomenon and players being paid to sit at home.
It's weird.

Luol Deng....

Goran Dragic....

Andre Iguodala....

Al Horford

All paid to stay home.

But, yeah....

Let's call it John Wall'ing....lol

No shade about it because I'm pretty sure I introduced that nonsense here....lol

Didn't Wall actually show up to games? I don't remember anyone else doing that.

Yah I saw this. That is pretty cool.

Apparently the Cavs are one of the teams in on Mitchell.

They def. have the type of assets to pull it off if they want---- not sure if its the precisely right move- but we shall see. Sexton, Okoro, Agbaji, a couple firsts? I dont know....dont know if that would even be enough- plus not sure if he is a great fit with Garland.......if he was a great fit id say sell the farm and just do it....a Mitchell/Garland/Allen/Mobley core is pretty interesting though I gotta say.

very true....

now the Lakers trading THT - I think it was a good move- if for nothing else than the fact they get his salary off the books next year.

Lakers only have 4 guaranteed contracts next year- and two of them are Christie and Damian Jones player option....

87 million for Davis and LeBron and pretty much nothing else.

the cap is projected at 133 million........not sure how cap holds will effect this and filing out a roster--- but if they want to go all-in on a 3 person team they will have close to max room (depending on the player) for a third guy.

As soon as you say this it comes to bite you in the ass---- but the Cavs seem to have too much depth and too many rotation guys.

1. Garland
2. Mobley
3. Allen
4. Love
5. Sexton
6. Markkanen
7. LaVert
8. Okoro
9. Agbaji
10. Rubio
11. Osman

Plus decent depth guys like:
12. Wade
13. Stevens
14. Lopez
15. Neto

Cavs rotation goes legitimately 11 deep. If they packaged LaVert, Okoro, Agbaji, Sexton, and 2 first rounders- they would still have plenty of guys.

If they keep the roster they can really just come at you in waves with a lot of different looks.

I wonder it the Lakers go all in on Turner and Hield....if they do- its pretty much bye-bye to any serious cap room next year.

Is it worth it Lakers fans? Does a Davis/LeBron/Turner/Hield core get you on a championship contention level? I dunno about that.......but LeBron is certainly not getting any younger.

I don't know either Wiggy and it is a fact that Father time is undefeated. I suspect at some point the Lakers will fully understand that the James era is coming to an end in about 2-3 years and then they will have to go full-in rebuild and find the next set of superstars or something to that effect.

Been away from most of the NBA off season goings on for the last few weeks.
Just found out earlier today Chet Holmgren has foot issues and needs season ending surgery. Huge bummer for OKC.
Also KD is apparently staying with the Nets after all because Brooklyn wants way too much in return..so the soap opera/drama continues.
I see the Knicks might be exploring some possible trade scenarios for Donovan Mitchell...which I'm really not all that crazy about, but that depends on who they'd give up and if a 3rd team will be involved to sweeten the pot.
Lastly...props to the NBA's PTB on retiring the late Bill Russell's jersey #6 throughout the league. Awesome tribute.

1) you have a young PG and since you didn't land Ayton you're trying to be tank-tastic.

2) Russ has to be willing to give back some cash, which is a major ?
The only way sending him home makes sense is if you're tanking but still think there's trade value at the deadline. Open cap for FA may not be as valuable as a Russ trade chip, given the lackluster upcoming FA class.

Does playing Russ improve or worsen the tank process though? As far as giving back money, I think he might be willing to give some back just to get on the court elsewhere. Sitting all year is not going to help his cause for his next contract.

Interesting dilemma....

Exactly he just try to make stuff up lol. Heat never did that to a single player yet so why would they start now? They may not play a guy but they're not going to send anyone home
Well, to be honest they have kinda been paying a certain someone to barely play for what seems like a decade now...

Trying to get someone like Oubre out of the Hornts and making this a 3 team deal is certainly something that you could do as well.

not sure what Charlotte would want from Indy though.

Oubre is not a guy you want on a contender.

Very overrated.

Low basketball IQ player.
