Yep. Pushing themselves into the dreaded play in mediocrity level. You have to pull a Kawhi or Giannis type draft steal to get out of it.

I mean if dude is thinking he's a max guy then I'm shipping him off for Mitchell. Mitchell is waaaaaaaaay better.
And this.greedy Mofo wants to make sure that's not a possibility.

He wants to bleed them dry.

At least in Miami he will be surrounded by defense, defense, defense. I think that is one of the better situations for him. It would be a disaster in New York

Everything for the Knicks is a disaster. That franchise is jinxed by their owner.

I’m not seeing it. What Wiggins has that DM doesn’t is athleticism that made him a number one overall pick and length. DM has neither.
Beyond the comparison the fit is there. What has Miami needed more than anything the last couple years? A true #2 scorer. Their defense is just fine. Obviously, KD is ideal but they would have no depth after that trade and giving up more picks

I'd venture to say only like 3 players in the entire league are worth 7 first rounders. That ask is ridiculous.

He is a great fit because they can mitigate his lack of defense.

I've been a Spida fan from the start.

But, he is the epitome of a 1-way player, which is why I never understood why he balked at playing with Gobert.

Yin to his yang.

Didn't Spida get pissed at Gobert for joking about the virus then getting the virus himself? Probably from Gobert.

What are you giving up to get DM?

Herro, Robinson and 3 1st’s a couple swaps

What are giving up for KD?

I dont think they have enough but you are probably adding in Lowry and more picks
Robinson is a negative asset plus a marginal basketball player. I guess in the Knicks situation to make salary work they’re sending Fournier? Yikes. It’s an argument over which is the worse shit sandwich. Maybe we shouldn’t underestimate the draw of 2 white guys for the Utah fan base.

I think he's had to focus SO MUCH on offense because UTAH hasnt had anything close to a second scorer next to him. He came into the league being known for his defense out of college. Maybe he'd be able to focus more on defense amd make an all NBA team lol.

That’s a fair point. Do you want your number 2 scorer to be a chucker though would be my counter to that. I think Mitchell is best right now as the alpha on an also ran. But he’s young and players evolve. Maybe Miami culture plus his commitment and he becomes the guy you’re projecting.

Wiggins wasn’t a two-way player before GS. Now I don’t believe DM has that upside defensively but look at what is around him, all great defensive players. Not every player on your team is going to be a great defender but those guys will encourage him to play harder, he has the ability. Jimmy desperately needs a #2 scorer next to him and he is MUCH better scorer than Herro. He is. It’s a good fit
Maybe...but Utah had some great or solid defenders who could not get him to play D. Still young.

You should check out the Bill Simmons trade value podcast.

I think you'll be happy where some of your guys land.

They are big Mobley fans, as they should be.

He's on crack about a few players.

But, he nails Mobley.

I think he has him in the Hang up immediately if a GM calls tier.

I think that is true for any young player with star potential in the first 3 years of their rookie deal.

Those guys just don’t get traded ever.

Very unfair to call him a chucker. Have to consider the roster before using that term. When the 2nd best player is rudy gobert and you are surrounded by role players, you must be a volume shooter.

Bogdanovic and Clarkson are better offensive players than Gobert. They’re both ideally the 3rd or 4th option offensively. At Louisville he was a 13 shot guy to get 15.5. His NBA numbers with more shots look like a pretty similar ratio. A number 2 scorer has to be able to complement the 1. In the modern NBA that means you’re a jump shooter in most cases. He’s career 36% from 3.

Hard to say he will be the same guy in a different situation. He would have to buy into the culture, it’s not like we haven’t seen a player do it before and we have to look at like he will get better shots on the floor with Bam and Jimmy

Conley is old and injury prone, still a solid defender. Boj is ok. Gobert obviously. Not much else there but they played good team defense at times. Seemed like their offense was top of the league for most of the year due to Mitchell. I’ve already said I don’t think he is a star, borderline but Miami’s individual defenders are much better easily. Bam can also guard the perimeter unlike Gobert. Jimmy is a top wing defender. the fit is still there

Where’s Lowry in all of this? Does he go in another deal?

You now have three guys that are best with the ball in their hands in Butler Lowry Mitchell. If these guys commit to doing the right things off ball, then wow with 3 guys who can take a match up off the dribble in your closing 5. But of the 3 Lowry is the best 3 pt shooter and he’s not really elite although he has had a few campaigns in his career where he was over 40%
