supposedly about 27M over 3 years.

what was the final contract he accepted in Philly?
33 M. Do you know if the last year in the Miami offer was a team option or not? It’s not an option for the Sixers. 11 million per is the biggest contract he has seen. He’s always been a role player. This isn’t a dude who has gotten a bag for 100M ever. Basketball has been good to him but he’s had to grind for everything he’s gotten. He’s earned the right to say give me 33.2 guaranteed for my last deal. He’s the guy who changes the future for his family with access to generational wealth.

it didnt say anything in the post that it was a team option. I thought I read the 3rd year was guaranteed.

Chet getting pushed around a bit by Lofton Jr though,,,
This is why He's not 5.

He can be a great help defender in the post.

But, man defense will be a issue until he gets stronger.

He can't guard the bigger guys on the block.

Some bigs can't guard him on the perimeter.

Ps. Lorton got that Zach Randolph goon game in him....lol

Yeah immediate term he’s a 4 and small ball 5.

The good news is he can play in space

I don’t know why anyone would want to make him a 5. It’s actually kind of lazy. He does untraditional things for a big. He lacks a lot traditional things bigs have but he can block shots. That’s a perfect 4 for me. He can space the floor and I think it won’t be long before he’s a get his own shot guy in the NBA. As a 4 he is a help defender and you can utilize his shot blocking.

Pretty good comparison there. He was playing bully boy and he has a jumper. He likes his cheeseburgers. Chet asks for a kids meal

This is all I was saying. Dude gets murdered by bigger guys like that. He's a weird combo of potential elite shot blocking but couldn't guard the post if it were nailed to a tree.

Shawn Bradley was Hella skinny but I don't remember him getting backed down like a kid like that lol.

Yeah.

People trying to say he is going to be an elite defender. I don’t see that.

He will block a crap ton of shots.

But “elite” big defenders today need to be able to stand their ground and move their feet.

I do think his shot blocking will make up for a lot of his deficiencies as a defender. But he will likely always be overrated on that end because of the stats he posts.

Nobody does. Much more than no one wants Kyrie.

That's never been in doubt (well, maybe not the bit about Kyrie, since Russ at least shows up every day). His value is as an expiring contract and/or any assets attached to him.

Hopefully when discussions begin in earnest the Lakers aren't precious about these draft picks. If they aren't confident they will be still contending in 5 years, new management is needed. The Lakers have never been about bottoming and out and rebuilding in my lifetime with the exception of the years leading up to AD/Lebron. I suppose there was a mini-rebuild in the early 90s, but the picks were #10 or later. Prior to Randle's selection in 2014 (starting that run of early lottery picks), the Lakers hadn't been in the high lottery since 1982 (Worthy) and 1979 (Magic). There were 5 picks earlier than the 20s in between, none before than #10. They have always reloaded via trade and free agency.
