Sure, but those are unlikely to be lottery picks unless those franchises own picks from 3rd party teams, since Durant will likely elevate whatever team he plays on to the playoffs.
Well, we'll see.

I just know they aren't getting 2 AS players because that would gut whatever team he is going to.

Only so much you can do with the money they have available. When they won the bubble title, most didnt think they had enough shooting. But it turned out that having a healthy AD and Lebron gave everyone else such wide open looks, their shooters were able to knock down more shots. That and the defense they played, got them a title.

They will have to try to do the same thing with this team.
I think they overpaid for Walker.

But. maybe that was the cost of business of getting him to take a 1 yr deal.

Brown was not a good signing.

He's awful.

Love Toscano and Jones for you.

Signing almost exclusively Klutch guys could be a blessing and a curse.

I won't compare what you have now to the bubble.....yet.

We don't know what the final roster will look like.

A Kyrie and Seth/Harris acquisition changes the math exponentially.

But, KCP, Kuz, Caruso might as well be Curry, either one, compared to what you have with Westbrook, THT, Brown and Walker.

So, y'all better hope something happens because as currently constructed you are the brick squad.

And if they get Irving....he took 8 treys a game on the Nets. And made almost 42%. He'll do similar with James and AD IMO. Even his career average of 39.3% would be pretty good.
.......and If they don't get him this year, what then?

Yep and making that work depends on Kyrie....kinda scary. lol

Walker looks like an overpay. But considering what some other guys were getting, it was unlikely they were going to get much better with that MLE. He is an intriguing athlete. If Ham can get him to commit to the defensive end that will help.

And per CBS.

"After being used primarily off the bench in his first two seasons, Walker started 44 games over the past two years and averaged 11.7 points per game. Perhaps more importantly, his 3-point volume has steadily increased to an average of 4.9 attempts per game over the past two seasons. His career 34.3 3-point percentage isn't great, but he's played on a Spurs team that hasn't been able to surround him with elite playmakers. LeBron James should make his life much easier."

He's a overpay if it were multi-year, without seeing what he is.

It's only really scary that it hinges on Kyrie for the following reasons:

1. He's a franchise killer. But, Dude's with his talent don't grow on trees.

2. He is neurotic and flaky. You need to get him in-house asap. Because, that fucker changes his mind like he changes his undies.

There is no guarantee he will still feel this way next year.

3. You are sacrificing another year of LeBron on a maybe.

Still, if you are the Lakers, what better option do you see materialising?

Shooting coach could help Walker get better.
He was with the Spurs 4 years.

You don't think they have a shooting coach?

He can get better.

But, that doesn't normally happen when guys become Lakers.

It's actually been the opposite the last few years.

Maybe Ham's staff will be different.
Not good.

But, the Nets are talking about stretching Irving. He'd be free to go wherever he wants.
Where did you see that?

This doesn’t make sense.

They are better off dealing him for Westbrook and picks.

Then you can waive and stretch Westbrook if you want.

Yeah and even then, why stretch?

If you trade kyrie you aren’t a contender anyway

Dumping that Russ contract after this year (and Harris) would mean you’re not a tax payer next year (barring resigning guys)

Get paid 2 firsts to get out of the tax payer mode?

Why not?

.......and If they don't get him this year, what then?

You hope whatever plan Ham has to make Westbrook work...actually works and you can get 70-75 games out of AD and Lebron. That can make them competitive and get them to the playoffs. Then you hope that Westbrook can be rehabilitated enough to be able to move him at the deadline for someone who can shoot or maybe get a Kyrie trade done at that time.

The one glimmer of hope if they end up having to keep Westbrook is that, early in the season, with a healthy AD and Lebron, they had a winning record even though they hadn't figured out how to play together yet.

But mostly...it would mean wanting this season to end quickly so they can get to next summers FA. lol

Miles Bridges blew it. Hornets no longer have the impetus to shed salary. They likely no longer have a desire to add Westbrook just for an expiring contract and a first 4 drafts from now.

Yeah, probably true. In that case, maybe this circles back to the Pacers moving Brogdon and/or Hield for Westbrook/picks and buying out Westbrook? I'm assuming Turner will have much better value in his own deal, since he's now an expiring on top of a solid talent.

I think it is a perfect Wizards move.

They should have traded him while they could.

Now they are a mediocre team with a good, not great player on a massive contract that will be an albatross in 2 years.

I think the team should be top 10 in the East if healthy, so I don’t expect a Beal trade in season. But best case IMO is if the team starts of slow and trades him at the deadline while it is still possible.

There’s still time to move him.

The wizards are too worried about pr on this

They could’ve traded him, kuz, kcp and gotten quite a few firsts back. Now it is definitely a little harder to do it.

Haha right. A shooting coach? Why didn’t the Spurs think of that? What a novel concept

I think it circles back to where these conversations always circle back…nobody wants Westbrook.

At the deadline, it really doesn't matter as much if Westbrook is rehabilitated as an expiring contract on the market. New salary dumps should be available if the Lakers are interested in any of them. However, without a trade for Kyrie, he will only be able to get about $25M from the Lakers as a free agent unless Lebron signs for less first to open up more cap.

The player, no. The cap relief to get out from under some contracts that don't fit your time line? Sure.
