FA too. How about that Kyzir guy from SD?

I wouldn't object to White, but there'll be plenty of fans who'll whine once they see he's 6'2 218 lbs. TBH, he's more in line for a nickel LB. I still wouldn't object so long as it's around his last years pay of 2,2M. You'll have to click on his history and statistics link.

Lions talking to Arden Key. I was a fan of his when he came out, but he had been a bust until last year. It is interesting that most of his success this year cam when lining up as a 3 technique.

Might be an interesting rotational piece. Would not mind signing if the contract is cheap enough.

For one reason or another--like he just didn't fit what the Raiders were doing with him--he was a bust for the Raiders and a bargain basement pickup for SF. He did pretty well in SF last year too. Played both DE and DT, but like you said, he made the most impact on the inside, but still he was playing on a rather strong DLine.

I think it would depend on how much money he wants, would Detroit make him a starter, etc.

Former Vikings 1st round draft choice in 2018. His career got off to a slow start due to injuries in both 2018 - (ACL) and 2020 and buried on depth chart in 2019.

We could use a depth CB with the unknown of when Okudah and Jacobs are coming back and if either is healthy enough to contribute positively.

We signed this guy to replace JRM, the ST ace who later earned snaps as a LB. He seems to be on track with what JRM provided and more than likely a lot cheaper.

Sweet deal for Lions over WR Raymond. Pretty much a 1-year deal unless he hits 2022 incentives

2022

Base salary: $1.3 (guaranteed)
Signing bonus: $1.25M ($625,000 proration per year)
Workout bonus: $50,000
Cap hit: $1,950,000

2023

Base Salary: $1.95M ($300,000 guaranteed)
Signing bonus: $625,000 proration
Workout bonus: $50,000
Roster bonus: $400,000
Cap hit: $3,025,000
Dead cap if cut:
$925,000 ($2.1M in savings)

  • Up to $1.5M salary escalator in 2023
  • $1.5 million in undisclosed incentives
This is essentially a one-year deal for Raymond worth about $2.85 million with a second-year team option to make it a two-year, $5 million deal.

This regime seems to be relying more upon incentives, and there’s a lot here for Raymond to earn. If you’re wondering what a salary escalator is, it’s basically a worked-in raise if Raymond hits certain benchmarks in 2022. If he hits them all, that $1.95 million base salary in 2023 turns into $3.45 million. However, that salary does not appear to be guaranteed (beyond the originally reported $300,000), so he may not even get that raise should he earn it. The Lions could cut him, and he would not see any of that money.

However, the other $1.5 million in incentives appear to be of the bonus variety and would be earned immediately upon reaching those goals.

“Good deal for Detroit. The former first-rounder had 52 QB pressures last year with a 78.7 pass rush grade,” Spielberger tweeted last week. “Lions have done well finding diamond in the rough edge defenders, first Romeo Okwara and now Harris.”

Later, Spielberger praised the Lions’ entire offseason thus far.

“Definitely like the Chark & Charles Harris move,” Spielberger added on Twitter. “Had heard Walker was going to do well, plus I’ll trust this defensive staff to know a good safety when they see one. Smart to all be short-term for now. Think they’ve done well so far.”

My only complaint is the void years they keep adding to lower year one cap hit. I get why they do it, but it is starting to feel like the new normal instead of of one off.

I don't like it either, however, all teams have been leaning this way for the last 3-4 years. Someone with Cap manipulation knowledge in the league found a loophole and it blew up afterwards.

I hate kicking the can down the road and seeing all the dead money team's waste every year. It can hurt a team's ability to improve its roster with another player acquisition or two or three when it's all said and done (you know, 3M here, 2.5 there, 6M on this Jim, 4M on that Jim and so on)

I’m a Jim - where’s my 4M?

We need to Not have all this crap in the upcoming season or @RobBase will be telling all of us, "See, I told you we should have drafted Malik Willis".

It's worth noting I went at @RobBase over Ragnow and he was very correct, and I was very wrong.

So, what you're saying is that when Holmes drafts Hamilton at whatever slot and he plays lights out this year @RobBase is going to come back to you and say, Man Mebert, I was completely wrong about Hamilton.

Good luck with that wishful thinking. LOL

Or that pass rusher from Bama, he looks nice too.

Yeah I know that guy you are talking about. Forgot his name but he is sick. Funny thing about the draft from year to year is how guys rise and fall. Last year, I saw the Rattler guy projected as #1 overall and he ended up losing his starting job to someone else and had to transfer I believe lol.
