Are Brockers and Nick Williams guaranteed to make this team? Brockers could be a cap cut and Williams has been pedestrian. Although I think we keep Brockers. Cornell showed flashes inside and we Have Levi and Akim and Penisini. Cant keep everyone. We need to bring in some safety and NBs too. Harris and Breeze cost us several games with blown coverages for TDs. This team could have been 6 wins easy and 8 if you include the Ravens screwjob and missed FG from an unknown kicker.
I doubt they resign Williams. I don't thinking cutting Brockers would save that much though. I like the trio they have for DT going into the year.

I think Harris and Julian are nearly the same size, but I'm probably wrong........... AGAIN

I'm curious as hell as to what type of 4-3 they'll be running.

Both Harris and Julian are so much better playing 7 and 9 tech. The only time you'd see either in a tight alignment 6-tech would be on short yardage expected run downs.
Harris is not too much bigger. Maybe 10 pounds.

This is still a little bit odd with the resigning of him and Campbell announcing his players were more suited to a 4-3 Base. J. Okwara has versatility, but Romeo and Harris are fairly specific oriented in where they are best lined up at.
Maybe they have Julian bulk up? 15 pounds of muscle would make him more durable and strong enough to handle the LOS.

I think cutting Brockers saves like 8 mil.

Nick Williams is a UFA

Agree, we need a viable replacement player at Safety until they draft one, however, they fucking love Harris.

We could still use an upgrade for Jashon Cornell, but only if there's value whenever that comes.

Still need to add an iDL in this draft, imo.
Brockers is done after this season, and I doubt they send him packing this year unless he gets another boo-boo.

Nah, I'm okay with wherever he's at. If they use a LEO LB or even SAM LB, he's perfect for that, imo. I have no clue how they're going to line up defensively.

Raymond resigned for 2/9.5

This is odd and weird all in the same breath. There has to be something with incentives to give him that much. How does he receive more than Josh Reynolds?

It said up to, so final contract may be different

Ah, got it.

Well, Homes spent money over these last two days and no particular signing was crazy out of line.

If all goes well this year, by not having a ridiculous number of injuries, the drafted players progress well then maybe in 2023 we'll be at a place to be competitive enough to vie for a playoff spot.

A lot of ifs.

We sure as hell shouldn't be tied to a certain position of need in the draft. There's a lot of good to great players whose value in those first 5 picks that should bolster this lackluster roster.

I would not go that far. We need a lot of defense. Offense is in decent shape already so I would not waste a early pick on a Center, Tackle or QB

I had read a random article that had the Lions taking Ikem Ekwonu at 2 and making him a gaurd, and I don't hate the idea. Lions might have the best oline in football at that point, setting up whoever the QB of the future is for success. It would for sure lead to the offense needing to carry the defense, but the idea has appeal.

Talking about mathematical wizardry, the following has me wanting to dip into some leftover stash with the hope of becoming better focused. How in the hell do you have two signing bonuses in one year? Give props to whomever wrote this contract because that's some major legalese by someone.

If Chark’s contract was a normal one-year, $10 million guaranteed contract, it would look like this.

Base salary: $1.035M
Signing bonus: $8.95M
Cap hit: $10 million

With the two extra years, it looks like this:

2022:

Base salary:
$1.035M
Signing bonus: $2.988 million ($8.95 million divided by 3)
Cap hit: $4.02M

2023:

Base salary: N/A (VOIDED YEAR)
Signing bonus:
$2.988 million
Cap hit: $5.98M

2023:

Base salary: N/A (VOIDED YEAR)
Signing bonus:
$2.988 million

While most likely not at the top of the draft picks, we'll still need a TE2 and a swing OT. The latter could easily wait until day 3 while the former could possibly be a value pick, depending on previous drafted players, somewhere in 3rd round.

Personally, I'm good either way as Brock Wright is one TE who needs to further develop and may be seen as adequate enough to go into training camp.
