Wow. I truly expected Holmes to sign M. Williams. We'll see where Williams ends up signing now.

I doubt they double dip in signing both Walker and Willams unless they would intend to have TW lll play more in the box which he struggles at.

I would not mind also signing Williams, I am not sure either excels in the box though. Not a great fit.

As much as I "kind of bitched about possibly paying Marcus 15M per year and questioned if he truly is 7-8M better than TW lll, I still would rather have Williams over TW lll. It was simply the money aspect. Marcus is a better all-around FS than TW ll but the cost is still relevant and yet now, I do hope they still sign Marcus.

Go figure coming from the biggest flip flopping mofo on this board.

Unless either can play big nickel the next safety needs to be box Safety I think. Lions do say they need 3 safeties.

Kirk to the Jags. Lions reportedly really going after Allen Robinson, but he really does not fix the deep issue.

We had to assume this was going to happen even though some of us fans are not celebrating this re-signing

I have to assume he's a genius and good at film watching or something. The dude wasn't worth 2 million on the field, he wasn't worth $2 on the field. But that's not really the back up QB job. Look at Kellen Moore. Sucked as a QB, we had him here. But retires and instantly a coordinator.

There's no other reasonable explanation, so I have to assume that's the reason

Let us hope that Holmes has no intention of signing a high priced WR to help Goff out. I think if Holmes re-signs Kalif Raymond as @Old Lion suggested that is sufficient enough. Many fans have been hoping Holmes to do exactly that, in signing a high priced WR will somehow elevate Goff but why?

Having Reynolds, AR-SB, Cephus Raymond and Benson is currently adequate enough to get another year of look and see what Goff can do. You add in Hock, Swift and that's a lot of players to spread targets to. I get it that name only and past production question marks with some of these players comes into question, however, spending an excessive amount for an UFA WR doesn't make sense at this time.

I'm glad Kirk is signed elsewhere and honestly would be a double-up of AR-SB, imo. I hope he got paid, but if Kirk received that alleged 15M then I'll be happy he got that elsewhere.

Especially if Kirk is getting 17 million. I am hoping no top end WR fa. Maybe Willams or Burks slip to 32.

Yep.

I don't have any confidence that either will be available at No.32, but if one does, draft him.

I'm not worried one bit about Burks 4.55 as I never saw breakaway speed on the field. I do think that with Ben Johnson as the current so-called OC and having influence within the offense that Burks could be used similarly to the Garrapolo to Deebo Samuel connection, and you add in Goff's apparent penchant for average depth of target then Burks would be a probable huge upgrade.

Raymond, AR-SB and Burks all on the field at the same time and the jet-sweeps and short underneath routes could become a hindrance for opposing defenses.

This is not the time to seek out a receiver like Allen Robinson. If Goff had proven himself as a qb who was willing and had the confidence to throw deeper down field and the entire defensive roster wasn't so depleted of talent, then I'd see the likelihood of signing him. That's not the case.

I would've liked to have signed BJ Hill and especially for that kind of money if we had an 7M to work with.
The positive side would be that next Brocker's is most likely gone and a vet, like Hill, would've been helpful.
The negative side is that Hill is more of a 3-tech than anything else and that might've hindered Levi Onwuzarike.

A depth signing for the iDL that I'd entertain in signing would be Raider's DT, Quinton Jefferson.

He's still chugging along. He couldn't or didn't fit the scheme with the Lions, but he's been good for the 49'ers. Amazing the money thrown at these players and it's getting extraordinarily worse every damn year.

I honestly thought the tagging of Robinson might've been a ploy or that they would've required him to move inside to LG and still negotiate a favorable contract but.......

one of the simple reasons as to why Holmes signed Anzalone to a 1-year contract

  • LB Christian Kirksey: Re-signing on a two-year, $10 million contract that includes $4 million guaranteed. (Tom Pelissero)
  • LB Foye Oluokun: Signing a three-year, $45 million deal that includes $28 million fully guaranteed and has a max value of $46.5 million. (Ian Rapoport)
