100% agree.

But it is harder to have discussions on pick 64 when we don’t know who the first 32 are much less who the first 60 are.

I’m just a conscript in Paton’s army. Leave this picking stuff to the pros. #gogeorge :suds:
Pump, I’m thinking of going to Mecca next week for the draft. Do you want to fly out to Iowa and join us?

OL I think will go higher then most mock people have them going and strong possibilities for Denver where we could possibly not have to go OL with the first two picks we currently hold.

Zach Tom, OT, Wake Forest (can also kick inside) This guy is one of the most underrated players in this draft. I took him with the second pick of Rd 3 in DCFFL Mock for Denver and I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't there with that pick. He doesn't get talked about enough.

When we get to Round 4 area. (These guys don't get a lot of draft love but I bet they go early day 3 and won't even be shocked if they end up at the end of day 2. You know those final rd 3 fans when folks are turning their TV off because their team has already picked and it is getting late on Friday night to wake up and read in the newspaper these guys went late in rd 3 (More likely early day 2 though)
Spencer Burford, OT, UTSA-
Braxton Jones, OT, Southern Utah
Matt Waletzko, OT, North Dakota

One OT I don't really want to see us take if he did fall to us is Minnesota OT Daniel Faalele. He may be a decent NFL OT but not a fit for us. Not enough upside to tinker with a guy I don't think fits us.

Zach Tom's tape and athleticism look really intriguing, but his size and strength concern me at the NFL level. Some draft reports label him as a dreaded "finesse player". DC does he have the type of frame that could put on 15-20 pounds and maintain the athleticism? If so he seems to be a perfect scheme fit. I also see his range in mocks from late 3rd to early 5th so he seems to be all over the board.

What do you guys think of Luke Fortner, IOL from Kentucky. Has some versatility to strengthen the Oline, and maybe the future C.

Honestly, Like him a lot. Not as much as Jurgens for our scheme but I do like him.

Might be the most athletically gifted OT in the draft. Tyler Smith probably close behind. Strength is an issue which is why many believe if all else fails you can always kick him inside. There is a reason he isn't a first round pick. But he has been slept on through the entire draft process. He can realistically play all 5 OL spots as well.

Marcus Jones

CB and best punt returner in the draft.

Seems to be available at 75 in most mock drafts

Really hard to tell where to expect players to be selected this year. One mock might have a guy as an early 3rd, the next he is mid to late 5th. Maybe it is that way every year, and I don’t pay as close attention because we have earlier picks.

One thing I’ve noticed while looking at the ‘draftables’ this year is that this is an old draft class. A lot of kids must have burned another year in school because of Covid. Many kids been 22-23yo.

Give the lack of picks in 2023, and the depth of this draft I feel like the following is that happens with puck 64:
  • Most likely - Trade down add a puck in 2023, and maybe on later in 2022.
  • Make the pick
  • Least likely - package the puck to move up
I am wrong a lot but I think George may move around a fair amount in this draft, and look to add draft capital in 2023.
