I wish I was watching the Kings vs Coyotes, but the game is blocked out on ESPN+.

I thought that the Kings have hitched their wagon to Copper.

One week left until the TDL, lot can happen. But players and teams are dropping off the market (see the Bruins Caps trade for Orlov and Hathaway? Holy shit...the Bruins will be able to kill you in multiple ways. My pick for the Cup this season hands down, last run for Bergeron and Krejci) so you'd think Bowlby is working the phones hard. At least we hope, there are some glaring holes on this team.

I don't expect that all to be fixed in one fell swoop but one area of LD or goaltending absolutely needs to be addressed now with the other being addressed this summer. This roster will struggle in a WCQF battle with anyone, the defense is small and soft and you just get this feeling that Copley could fall off the rails at any moment leaving the Kings in a very very bad spot. I mentioned maybe 2-3 years ago they should have drafted a future goalie but they loaded up on forwards and RD. I don't see anything in the Kings system goalie wise that says future starter. Copley is playing very average, not lights out. That could change at any moment, my spider sense is saying this ride is about to come to an end.

The good news is with the Bruins trade, the BJs thought they had a deal in place to move Gavrikov to them. Now that spot is gone as well as higher draft picks, he's a UFA, one week before the TDL, all indicators the asking price should drop. I'd target LD at this TDL since mid season goalie trades rarely happen and rarely work out, that's more of a draft day/summer thing. This doesn't really affect the Chychrun situation because he's still under contract for 2 more years and the Dogs don't need to really move him ans can hold on much longer.

Bottom line is there is a problem on the backend defending leads and protecting the goalies, time to get that correction started even if for the remainder of this season and whatever playoffs no matter how they fare.

Read some twitter stuff
Quick pissed
Kopitar pissed
Doughty wouldn’t talk after the game.

I know he sucked this year, but the season is almost over. Put him in the press box. Until his contract is done
Maybe freeing cap space for a Friday deal
But Blake looks cold hearted for sure

I hate this the most. I am not sure I would have hated giving up Byfield or Clarke for Chychrun as much as I feel like this goes against what the Kings usually stand for. Did Quick dirty.

Some rumors that he could be flipped. Also rumors he just won't show up to Columbus.

What a cluster. He's flying home with the team and they're all upset.

Ya, Seems like they could have had this discussion long before saying see you. He was a major part of 2 cups and a lot of history, Horrible way to go out

Though I love Quick for what he did for the Kings, IMHO they should have traded him sooner, when he still had some mileage left in him.
I know this point of view isn’t popular, but I root for the name on the front of the jersey.

It just sits bad. Like how Vegas did Fleury after winning the Vezina. Fleury said he found out from social media he was being shipped to Chicago.

If you're free agent, why would you come to a team that would do that?

Also, the Kings let Brown ride off into the sunset, and two weeks ago they gave him a statue, and let him re-raise the cup. It doesn't even feel like the same franchise that would then turnaround and send Quick to the 32nd team in the league.

Chychrun to Senators for not that much? I feel like Arizona kept trying to absolutely hustle LA, and they just settled on much less.

2023 Conditional 1st
2023 Conditional 2nd (Becomes 1st if Senators make ECF).
2026 2nd round pick (From Capitals)

They kept saying 3 firsts and the Kings said no.
Kings use their first in another deal and Arizona lost its leverage with other teams

They also said Ottawa's 1st is better than LA's 1st. The picks are worth more. Just seems like Ottawa got a good deal.

I think the fact that we are in same division made us a less attractive trade partner. Also now that most teams went out and got their defenseman, a lot less trade options for Coyotes.

I think he meant conference. Regardless, once Gavrikov dropped the Dogs lost leverage.

Sucks for LA, I would have much rather had him than Gavrikov for what was spent but the market dictates pricing and they simply had to make a move to not lose more value on a quality asset. That price on Chychrun would have ended up much less if Armstrong waited any longer.

Armstrong really shit the bed being so stubborn, I'm sure he got better offers the last 18 months.

25 seconds in, a penalty. Not a very auspicious way to start the game.
