Risto needs to get better in a hurry. If you aren't going to do anything else at least hit somebody.

One hit in each of these two games is unacceptable. Don't be a big puss part 2!

I have to say i didn't even notice any difference in our game without Frost playing.

Noah Cates you need to start producing as well. You been invisible in a lot of games so far.

Sanheim finally chipped in with an assist but got abused on that goal by Taveras.

Im glad TK stepped up against Mathews for trying to show us up at the end and hope McEwen remembers that for next time we play them.
The huge gap in talent was on full display last night. Toronto PP #1 unit with matthews, Marner, Tavares,Nylander & don’t remember the d-man. C’mon, that’s just not fair.

Tavares undressing Sandheim was a thing of beauty. Sandstrom looked like a one-legged grasshopper when his blade came off and lead to Tavares’ Hattie.

What we saw last night is going to be our norm. They battled hard, but just got out-talented. Hart will steal some games against the elite teams, we’ll outhustle and win a fair share off bottom 16 teams

Risto - he’s really bad right now.

Agreed they need some players back to ultimately stand a chance this year. Couts really hurts.

I cant consider that the norm yet as it was the second game of a back to back on the road. That's tough for any
team.

Couts , JVR who was playing decent and Atkinson is a whole line we could have out there that is hurt so we will be getting even better than we are now.

Absolutely. I think he's the best player on the team by a lot, unless Hart can keep up this pace or close. He would literally help us in all areas of the game, including locking down opposing stars at even strength and on the penalty kill. Some of our weaknesses right now as a team (such as faceoffs) are strengths of his. The guy has proven to be able to give us 30+ goals and about a point per game when healthy. Not to mention he's a +82 for his career and obviously a Selke Trophy winner.

People will argue that we don't have a star on this team. I think Couturier and Hart are the two biggest arguments against that. I mean, is Patrice Bergeron a star? Because that's basically what Couturier is, except 7 and a half years younger. He just has a lot less talent to work with in Philly than Bergeron does in Boston.

Unfortunately, this guy hasn't played a game in almost a calendar year and even then, it's clear he was not 100%. It's at the point where we forget how good he was because we haven't seen him fully healthy in so long. And now we have another 3-4 months to wait. Incredible.

I’m basing my expectations on Coots being out for the year. Atkinson is a complete mystery - WTFC is doing yet another dis-service to the fan base by not being upfront on what’s going on there. Ellis is done forever.

I’ll concede to LAS that it was the back end of the back to back, but I thought they played their best in the first half of the third period, maybe they did run out of gas, but Tavares’ move would have beaten timmonen hands down, and the lost blade was just amazing. I know hart lost a blade earlier this year. I can’t remember seeing this happen to anyone else, and we’ve had in twice in 10 games. So add our equipment group to the wellness group in being over ridiculous outcomes.

We need to get back into the win column asap or this could really snowball. Getting an early lead or salvaging a point aren't good enough. I can't argue against the thought that we'll battle hard, but often fall short against the top teams. That's certainly what it looks like on paper and as weak as we are down the middle without Couturier, how in the fuck are we going to compete in the long run!? Hart looks bad on a goal or two every now and then, but then he'll lock it down for two periods so we can grab the W. He's an elite goaltender as we speak, so yes, I think it's fair to say he'll win us some extra games.

If the animation Tortorella was displaying behind the bench during the game last evening was any indication of the urgency to return to wins, then ASAP ain't soon enough!!

Well, I certainly can appreciate the fire and passion for the game, for competing hard all over the ice and trying to build a winning culture. When Atkinson said last season had a bit of "country-club atmosphere," that really stung, to me.

Not anymore with the country-club shit, Maverick. Torts brings the fire and he demands best effort for 60 minutes, This is why he gets into sometimes with some of players. He pushes until they hoist Lord Stanley's Cup!

Among several problems that have been season long are getting out of our own zone. We must get better at not standing and watching and must move our feet towards the man with the puck and when we get the puck we NEEED to get the puck over the line.

I am happy about one problem that we cured from the last several years is that we no longer have a dump and watch. We actually chase the puck down when we dump it in. Its so refreshing to see our forwards crash the zone.

Let us hope, after three straight losses, that the Flyers return to the wins column.

Hayes gets the first Flyer goal on the PP. G gets the first goal for Ottawa.

Of course the goal by Giroux is his 300th Nhl goal. Honestly, I'd be fine if he got a hat trick against us, as long as we got the win. It's difficult to root against the guy, if not impossible.

Carter Hart is going to keep us in this game, but for how long? That's the question.

Last few minutes of the period I thought flyboys we’re getting g some O-zone time.

I can root against G.

Not sure which game the referees are watching here, quite frankly. Sanheim got two minutes for getting taken to the ice by Tkachuk. Pretty shocking, really. A lot went on in the scrum afterwards too. MacEwen got two minutes for just standing near the blue line while another guy ran into him. Last I checked, you're as free to stand on one patch of ice as much as the next guy is. That was a fucking joke of a call. The penalty on Sedlak was definitely weak and I haven't seen why Seeler got two for hooking. That's literally four very questionable power plays for Ottawa through just two periods. It's been a long time since I've seen officiating that is so poor.

Somehow we have overcome that and hold the 2-1 lead. We should be due 2-3 power plays in the 3rd period. Cash in on at least one of those and we can really help Hart lock this one down.

Big team win. It erases a small losing streak and keeps us within striking distance of the top teams in the division, if not even the conference too. Obviously Carter Hart deserves a lot of credit, but we also really lean on some grinders or 3rd/4th line guys. MacEwen gets the go-ahead goal in the 2nd and it somehow holds up. Really good efforts by Sedlak, Allison, Frost, Farabee, Cates and Deslauriers.

I believe Hart could set a team record for games played in to start a season without a regulation loss. Idk what the Nhl record is, but I am curious.
