Before anything he has to pick up his game for us and showcase any kind of talent for a team to take a chance on him like we did.
What skill does it take to make hits ? He’s averaging 1.75 hits per game. There are certain stats in every sport that are a sign of effort. For a very large d-man like him, seems there would be a correlation between hits and effort. Unless of course he’s just too out of it (out of position, too slow, whatever) that he can’t make a hit without incurring a penalty.

I agree! I posted this last week right after the Maple Leafs game when he had only 1 hit vs them and 1 vs the Rags. The next game he was promptly a healthy scratch. His whole contribution as a player is hitting and if he is not going to do that he has zero value. Its not like we have him out there to score goals ,get assists or play on the PP. Its like the old saying You had one job......

Yeah, Risto doesn't even have to really put up points to be effective and earn his paycheck so to speak. He just has to lock things down defensively, be in good position, block shots, check people, clear the porch in front of Hart and just be an absolute bitch for opposing forwards to face. If he picks up a roughing, cross-checking or charging penalty every now and then, so be it. At least it'll make the opposition think twice about going to a high scoring area with their head down or charging the net for a loose puck.

Not many of these things are on a stat sheet.

This isn't good. We are playing a crappy Blues team and we haven't scored yet in the closing First Period.

They got some jump via a few scraps. If we keep plugging and drag them into the deep end in the 3rd period, they will tire. We can definitely still scratch and claw our way to a win here.

The flyers are losing on the Face-offs but winning on the Shots-on-Goal and the Hits.

Risto stinking up the ice again. Was figure skating and got right in Hayes’ way. That’s pitiful.

There's the Second Goal in the 2nd Period. This one by Konecny! Allison got the First Goal! Sweet!

Almost a perfect 2nd period for us. Allison gets a dirty one in front of the net. Konecny with a snipe and Cates finishes a tic-tac-toe play while 4 on 4 with only 3 seconds left in the period. Pretty unreal. Now we have to keep pushing in the 3rd and put them away for good. It's time to get a win for Sandstrom. He deserves it.

I'm sure Torts hates the penalty by Tippett with only 33 seconds left, but that late goal really takes away the sting of nullifying our power play.

Three goals in the 2nd Period and 1 in the 3rd for a big ass-whippin we are laying on the Blues.
