Zero wins last year when 2 goals down. Only team to accomplish this dubious feat.

We’ll have fun watching while it lasts.
Solid performance last night for almost the entire game. We came out a little tentative but Deslauriers took care of that.

Yep, impressive W last night. Of course the 10 minutes I watch were the 10 minutes where Tampa scored both goals

But you're spot on with the comeback victories. Previous teams folded up shop after going down 2. Coming back from 2 down to the Bolts is a solid performance.
So far not having trouble scoring. Please dont watch tonight so we can get a sweep of Florida. :pound::pound::suds:

I'm not sure what you mean as the hustle is winning them games this year. I don't see a lot of lazy backchecking or forechecking. They used to promote relentless and this team is actually doing it in waves both ends of the ice. I've said it a million times that team D wins games and in the past there was no support or very little making the D and Hart look like hot garbage. We can only hope that it continues and the injured players come back hungry with the same attitude. If not I can see Torts benching them or even moving them out.
Was a joke, like it's great to.play hard and that's what we want, but If we were intent on tanking why play hard enough to finish middle of the pack and get hosed on a draft pick? If this team could play like this all season we'd be in the playoffs, I'm not sure that can happen, but I could def see them winning almost if not more than half their games, that doesn't put us on a good draft position IMO.

But others either accepted it / went along / or reinforced it. Does the Coaching staff have a contributing influence ?

I’m just asking, not disagreeing with you.
It was widely announced on this board that our locker room was in harmony for many years because nobody ever said anything bad about the captain. As we see now that theory wasn't so accurate.

Maybe we can trick someone into trading for Couts and Risto for a top pick if we finish in the middle of the pack.

Yep, it's tough to place this team right now, but to beat a team that we never beat (especially after going down two on the road) is really impressive. Also, our bottom defensive pairing that had been the worst at driving play early this season (according to the article I posted) nearly got burnt bad by Point less than two minutes into the game. Hart saved our bacon as Point pretty much faked out our entire defense, went in alone and was shut down near the far post. From there, Seeler and Zamula went on to be a combined +4 for the game and if I'm not mistaken, Zamula had a nice primary assist on the first goal by Laughton, which obviously started the whole comeback.

It's really early here though, so we don't know whether we are just catching teams off guard by being more prepared and willing to go for the win or if our young guys are all graduating and we're getting more out of everyone.

Behind all of this, Carter Hart is piling up the saves and really holding the fort when it counts. He's not unbeatable, but it seems like he is there every single time we need a big save. His save percentage at .943 has got to be near the top of the league early on.

A pretty impressive back-to-backer and an almost pulled-it-out game against the Panthers. This team under the old country club mentality bullshit would have got their asses handed to them on consecutive nights but under Torts these kids are playing differently almost fighting for every inch of ice. It was the Panthers holding on for the win not the reverse.

A different mindset and approach to the game is developing and I was impressed the Flyers took the Panthers all the way to the end before losing the game by a goal. I like what I see and am interested to see how this team will do in Nashville in two days.

TK with a goal and an assist should've had at least 3 goals

JVR please keep your value rising. Interesting fact about JVR coming later today.

DeAngelo and Prov were terrible last night but back to back in florida they get a pass

Wade Allison please shoot when you have a chance you have a good shot.

Kevin Hayes playing some good hockey.

If everyone scored last night who should've that game would've been 9-7.

Sandstrom really good game one bad goal at the wrong time but otherwise played great.

This is about where we are every season lol, then comes reality. I'm not gonna get down on this team because they are playing good. My main concern is if they win enough to screw us out of a good draft. I love a 60 minute play hard style that we haven't seen, but if we only get rid of JVR's contract who does that attract? These big time players are looking for long term lucrative deals. Somewhere you've got to add in the extra additive to make a cup run, with middle of the pack drafting and not a lot of extra cap money we're putting ourselves in a no win situation and as Las says " Middle of the Pack"!

If we get back to the middle of the pack this year, yes we are screwing ourselves out of a top draft pick. We didn't hire Torts and sign all the contracts we signed this year to finish last again, so unless we get really badly injured a high draft pick next year shouldn't be in our future. If we do get back to the middle consider it a huge improvement and and one small step toward making it to the playoffs again.

Its not easy digging out of the hole Hextall put us in but if we can get back to the middle this year at least we are heading in the right direction.

Culture wise, I agree with that. Hextall's rebuild was a failure, that can't be argued. But Fletcher has left himself no way of improving the team. For next year, not including Ellis' 6.25M, the Flyers already have 68M on the cap. 10F, 5D, 2G. So 13M available and they need 6 guys to fill out the roster. There's no space there to add anything of consequence. The only options are to rob someone in a trade, which Fletcher sure as hell doesn't seem capable of; or to find a stud in the draft on an ELC. The latter of which they likely won't do without a high draft pick.

There just isn't a plan to get beyond middle of the pack. That's the whole problem. Hextall pinned his hopes on guys like TK, Provorov, Sanheim, Farabee, and Hart turning in to all-star level players. They didn't. Rebuild failed. Fletcher's best chance at getting beyond the middle of the pack is still if TK, Provorov, Sanheim, Farabee and Hart turn in to all-star level players. Maybe you can add York (who, at almost 22 yrs old, didn't make the team when given every chance to) and Gauthier to the list. But we're no better off than we were. All Fletcher has done is completely botch the cap, raised the floor of the teams potential and handicapped them from raising the ceiling.

They've won some games. They've battled hard to come back. Great. Good progress in the culture department. I don't want to be a debbie downer, but they're getting outstanding goaltending and have 5 guys shooting over 20% right now (Matthews is the best shooter in the league and was 17% last year). What are the chances that either of those things hold up? They're getting 37% of the scoring chances per game so far, 3rd worst in the league. Not exactly a recipe for sustained success. And sure as heck not a building block for a cup contender.

Finally we get taken out by a team with more skill/talent that wanted to grab the win in that third period. This is sort of how I figured we would lose almost every night...Lol

It's unfortunate that we feel the need to spot the other team a couple of goals again. We erased that deficit yet again, but they took over in the 3rd. The late goal by Konecny (while really nice) was in garbage time, unfortunately.

You guys are probably right about the long-term prognosis of where this team is going and will eventually arrive at but something tells me that Torts just may be taking his own youngsters and training them into fighters hoping the Vets catch the positivity in that approach or buy-in to what Torts is selling.

If I am right about this approach, we will have a good foundation for more growth next year even though we may not have a high pick to facilitate a greater growth. As awaz, lasgop, chrispy and others have stated, the culture has changed and that may make the difference this year to move up a few notches north of mid-pack.

We will know in the next 5 to 10 games if the old reality takes over or the new culture-based approach gets us wins we all didn't expect. Afterall, I was one of the loudest debbie-downers before the season started, so if I am wrong, it will be plates of crow to consume.

I admit to being an optimist but the fact is you are never as good or bad as you think you are. In most cases desire, effort and flat out confidence wins out. Teams are closer than you think. Yes you need some talent no doubt but you never know the true ceiling of young players we've been surprised before and will be again. Let's see what happens as there was a totally crap Flyers team that eventually found itself in the cup final. If it weren't for Kane (who they should have had) they probably would have won it. Look at Vegas they came close with a bunch of has beens.
