Well, it could be worse for us. We could be the Toronto Maple Leafs :L:pound:. The absolute laughingstock of the hockey world.

They ice a team with no less than four absolute superstars and still just barely get to round 2 this postseason (for the first time in nearly 20 years) only to get completely embarrassed a week later by the team that finished with the lowest point total of any playoff squad. Now, they're down 0-3 and would have to win four straight, including two on the road, in order to make it any further.

And if people think we have quite the Stanley Cup drought, they haven't won it (or even been close) since 1967.

Enjoy that 28th overall pick in the 1st round too and nothing else until round 5...Lol Ouch.

Honestly, if we cash-in on our bad karma or luck over the years, we should win this draft lottery outright and draft 1st overall at the entry draft for the 1st time in club history.

I just clicked simulate minutes ago on the link below and we're drafting 1st.

I think today is our lucky day.

Btw, Marner, Matthews, Nylander and Tavares have a combined zero goals, 4 assists and a -10 rating against Florida through 3 games (all losses, obviously).

How's that for $40.5 million (or about 46%) of your cap hit!?

Absolute killer for sure. Was just reading about them too. Simply can't have that from those guys if you're going to spend that much cap on 4 players.

Yep. Three of those guys are making well north of $10 million per and they get virtually silenced by a division rival that they went 3-0-1 against and finished 19 points ahead of in the standings.

I think it just goes to show you that a good (but not great) team can get hot, sneak into the playoffs and then go on a run against even the powerhouses of the league. Cousins, Gudas and Bobrovsky are a big part of it too and they are all ex-Flyers, as we all know. Hell, Nick Cousins is playing on a line with Matthew Tkachuk and Bob wasn't even the starter at the beginning of the playoffs. It was another familiar name. Alex freaking Lyon.

:wtf:

I'm still wondering why Joseph Woll, a 24 year old kid with 11 games of Nhl experience, was Toronto's backup goalie last night!?! That sure as hell bit them in the ass!! He got scored on almost right away via Duclair on a breakaway and looked very much out of place on the OT goal. Reinhart made that wraparound look easy when the seas parted (legs). Woll was looking the wrong way seemingly forever.

How fucking lucky can Chicago get?

The exact same year that they wave goodbye to #1 overall pick Patrick Kane, suddenly they are picking another generational talent #1 overall....Lol

Oh well, at least the kid is going out west. Fucking amazing.

Seriously. I hope they waste his whole damn career trying to put pieces around him.

Yeah, they leapfrogged us to get Kane and we took JvR, obviously.

Who would've thought a western conference team could be such a thorn in our side?

If we were to meet them in the Cup Finals again anytime in the next decade and lose to Bedard, that would be some kind of fucking irony.

I guess to be on the bright side, we still should be able to draft an extremely good player at #7 overall. Hopefully still a generational, franchise-type forward.

It almost feels rigged. They were saying just before the lottery that Chicago was the ideal market for Bedard to go to and look at what happens. It just feels like this is what the Nhl wanted.

Oh well, we can probably just be glad that the kid didn't go to Columbus, Montreal, Detroit or especially Washington. It would've been absolutely terrible for us if he went to the fucking Caps.

I’m intrigued by Reinbacher tonight. Top pair RHD projection with good size and skating. Pronman’s comparable was Brett Pesce.

Not the flashiest of picks. But the Flyers could really use a top pair RHD.

From the Athletic mock draft:

7. Philadelphia Flyers: Zach Benson, LW, Winnipeg (WHL)

More than anything else, the Flyers need to add pieces to their system with top-of-the-lineup potential. They need to be taking big swings on players who — if all breaks right — could develop into stars. Benson may be on the small side, but his high-end puck skills are undeniable, and he has the flash and creativity that the Philadelphia forward corps so desperately needs at the moment. Dalibor Dvorsky would be the solid, safe pick here (and fill a big organizational need at center), as would Ryan Leonard to a lesser extent. But if (interim) GM Daniel Briere is looking to add a potential game breaker, Benson is the player available here who best fits the bill, even if his risk profile is a bit higher than some of the other available forwards. —Charlie O’Connor
