Travis Konecny, Flyers

The 25-year-old forward had 27 goals and 54 points in 52 games this season before getting injured. He’s got two more years on his deal at a $5.5 million AAV, a bargain even in the flat cap world. Because of that value, my expectation is that the Flyers will listen on him ahead of the draft in Nashville to see how the market responds. Given the return on Timo Meier, why not?

It doesn’t mean the Flyers have to trade Konecny, but they should at least know what the market is. I know of at least one contender that was planning on making an aggressive trade offer before the trade deadline but backed off once he got injured. Konecny could fetch the kind of assets the Flyers really need at this point.

Alright, so seems to be some pretty credible smoke around the Flyers making changes in the front office now. Have to assume they want that in place well before the draft (6/28).

The deadline, while embarrassing for Fletcher, doesn't set things back too far. JvR was going for a 3rd at best probably, not the end of the world. Braun would've been a late round pick. The one guy that probably should've been moved with his value at all time high, was Seeler. But they could still have some suitors for him in the summer. He's still very cheap next year. But with the way rugged dmen are over-priced at the deadline, that was the time to do it IMO.

The big, direction altering, moves are still out there. Provorov and Hayes being the more likely ones based on Torts' usages and the comments surrounding the team. TK and Laughton being less likely, but if they really do go wild. Waiting until the draft on those 4 guys wouldn't impact the returns very much. I expect Sanheim and maybe Farabee would be considered too based on Torts seeming to really like benching those guys. Sanheim is a tough move with his new contract. Farabee is probably a really dumb 'sell low' move at this point.

My concern is what kind of draft capital is still out there from the traditional 'buyers' (looking 3 years out and first 2 rounds).

Vegas - 1st all three years. 2024/2025 seconds.
Tampa - has a 2nd in 2025, that's it.
Toronto - 1st this year, 2024 2nd.
Carolina - all 6 picks, plus the Flyers 2nd in 2024 (the Canes are scary right now. Good cap. Great team. All their picks)
Colorado - All their 1sts, but no 2nds.
Boston - 1st in 2025, that's it.
NYR - 1st all three years, 2024 2nd.
Winnipeg - 1st all three years, 2025 2nd. (only including them because there was some Provorov smoke)
Dallas - 1st in 2024/25, 2nd in 2023/24

So, more picks out there to be had than I was thinking. That's good. Really just Tampa, Boston, and Toronto really going truly all in.

On this board we are always clowning Risto but he is having just as good if not a better year than Prov and Sanheim.

I would love to trade our players mentioned to a team with less regular season points than these teams mentioned so we can get a higher draft pick. Teams like the Sabres , Red Wings even the Blues who have 3 first round picks next year may want to part with their first round pick for a player like Sanheim.

I agree with that. I wonder what "next batch of contender" type teams would be interested in some of these guys. Sabres and Wings I think fall in to the category. Devils. Kraken maybe. Ducks are a bit of a mystery to me. Last year I thought they might belong in this category, but they're dreadful this year so maybe not. It would be great to deal with one of those teams instead. Or someone like the Pens/Caps/Flames that could be taking one more swing at contention before falling off a cliff. Maybe the Flyers get lucky with that timing and their last swing is a failure lol.

Please take the Pens out of the equation as when the 2 worst GM's ever to be in the NHL get together nobody wins. :dhd:

Only one that fits Hextal's Pens profile is Hayes and even he's a little young

I'll be in attendance tonight, so that'll bring something interesting! Expecting the Flyers to get crushed.

Well they didn't get crushed!

PNC arena parking situation is dreadful. For some reason they block off one of the main exits from the interstate to get to the arena and force everyone one direction. Probably took 30 minutes for us to go from 1/2 mile from the stadium to parked. Lame.

Also think we sat near Foerster's entourage. Noticed a couple guys walk by with Foerster team Canada jerseys at the 1st intermission and thought it must be them (what are the chances two random people in Raleigh are that big of a Foerster fans?). Then a bunch of people in matching flyers hoodies started to congregate around them after the 2nd intermission.
