But seriously, WTH is going on with JvR? Greenway has 7 points this year. JvR may be toast, may be a bad player at this point, but he's got 3x the points Greenway does and takes no cap space for next year. Does Fletcher just refuse to retain salary? I don't understand it.

It makes zero sense. Obviously it's good to acquire more picks, but 5th and 6th rounders aren't likely to end up being anything special.

I know there were a ton of moves made, but I find it difficult to believe that nobody wanted JvR, Braun or Seeler to add to their depth for an expected long playoff run.

Fletcher caught with his pants down. Thought if he waited long enough someone would come calling for JvR. Turns out, everyone did what they needed to do before today.

What a failure of a GM. He's supposed to have a press conference in 10 minutes, I hope it's Scott instead announcing they canned Fletcher.

If what Chuck says is true, that he didn't get any offers that made the Flyers better, doesn't that tell you that the Flyers, as constructed, are really really bad? And you should probably be looking at gutting the team?

I don't understand this "we're not gunna gut the team" approach that they keep taking. They're bad. The league just told you nobody wants your players. 90% of their prospects / U-23 guys are depth guys. They have less draft capital than every other team in the bottom 15 in the standings. And they're capped out.

I honestly don't think there's a single team in the league in a worse situation than the Flyers. Vancouver is doing everything they can to be in a worse situation, but at least they Hughes and Petterson. The Coyotes play in a 5,000 person college arena and still have a brighter future than the Flyers (4 1sts, 9 2nds, 9 3rds, in the next 3 drafts). The Blackhawks are absolute shit this year. But they have 6 1sts, 8 2nds, and 5 3rds in the next 3 drafts. And they have a boatload of cap space. The Hawks are going to be competing for cups again before the Flyers realize this half in bull shit doesn't work.

And to make matters worse, the teams that are going to compete this year, spent all their future capital too. For the next 2-3 drafts, all the picks are with the bottom dwellers. The Flyers aren't going to pry them away from other rebuilding teams. If they want a quick turnaround, they're going to have to wait until 2025 to start.

I cant believe how quickly things have turned
This was a stable franchise year after year

This is exactly how I was. Never in a million years would I have thought this franchise would be run into a shitter. It shows how badly this franchise shows poor management, lacks any kind of leadership from the top, and the bottom line seems to be about making money trumps winning for profit for Comcast. Fuck this organization
I'll continue to support my beloved Flyers because that's what we do as fans, but I'm disgusted with where this franchise is going. Who in their right mind would want to GM this franchise? We are screwed imo until we can get a owner who gives a shit.

I'm so frustrated with the direction this franchise has gone. I feel like we are behind everybody now who knew when to begin the rebuild. Ex NJ, Detroit, etc I feel we will be behind the likes of Chicago and Ottawa even. It's mind-blowing to me.
