Most people think the Mavs gave too much. I don't think they give one up those two no matter what the Nets asked

Just seems odd to be able to get Kyrie for a league average PG on a questionable deal and a wing (and picks next decade). You'd expect at least one prospect.

I didn't think the gave too much, just surprised it was DFS. You'd think a team competing for a title with Luka would try to keep their key contributors and move less developed pieces instead? It was an awfully quick acceptance for that trade, which leads me to believe the Nets either don't know what they're doing and/or just wanted him gone ASAP.

I personally think they stole him. If it doesn't work out, they can go sign and trade to get him where he wants to go(just being a FA doesn't guarantee that, club has to have the cap space) or just let him walk and be a move away from having space to bring in a max deal for Luka. It's a great move for the Mavs whether it works on the court or not

Irving will be the final determiner of if it was good or not, that can’t be a very good feeling down there.

That "move away" could be tough though, getting someone to take on a questionable contract or two (Bertrans, Hardaway, McGee). Right now, they'd have about $21M available this summer if Kyrie leaves, and that's if they renounce Wood, Powell, Pinson, Ntilikina, Melli, etc. They could get another $10.5M by dumping Bullock's non-guaranteed contract. Depends on what you're calling a max deal I guess. Maybe $31M is what I see.

Here's a thought, while I know it won't happen...if LBJ really wants to win another title, why not come take that 21 million from the Mavs and play with Luka. While Irving looks like a bad fit, I think LBJ would be a great fit

He's under contract.

They still have 2 firsts they can trade (25 and 27) so not unheard of.

Just not sure who that move will be.

James, Irving and Luka?

You think that would work?

Goddamn….lol

Durant > Brown

But, I would not fuck with that chemistry.

Plus, age, injury history, cost to get him.
If Brown is named 1st, 2nd, 3rd team All-Pro, his contract automatically gets him the Max Extension.

Durrant is owed $46.5M in 2023-2024, $49.8M in 2024-25, $53,5M in 2024-25.

Brown is 24 and KD is 35.

Injury history recently could be a deal breaker.

Summary, Jaylen Brown is not going anywhere. The Nets will get picks, exceptions and two or three players or deal him for more than the C's will pay.

Yeah I know. I think if he asked to be traded they would do it

Not if he asked. If he demanded, maybe. Don't see that happening unless everything falls apart. Not so sure his destination of choice would be Dallas either, or if they had enough pieces to entice the Lakers.

The more likely scenario would have Irving requesting a S&T to the Lakers, but that won't work either. If Kyrie wants to get to the Lakers now, it would have to be via cap space.

I think this ceased meaning anything at all a ways back right?

Nope. Recent interview with Lebron had him saying he thinks they can compete for a title this year just by staying healthy. Can't blame the front office for the Nets refusing to trade him to LA lol.

Good luck with that. If Hach gets 10 mill or so....we would have around 13 mill....

If Kyrie was available and interested, Rui isn't getting re-signed. Still far from what Kyrie wants, but they'd clear the deck of most cap holds to ink him.
