His dad doesn't seem all that smart. Not saying he should cut his dad out, but there's some crew he came up with and friends of his dad that Ja should probably leave behind
Or, ya know…

Just be professional at work and be boys at the crib.

Devil’s advocate…

And, I really hate being reasonable when it comes to the Lakers.

Is there a chance the Lakers didn’t actually WANT to make the Kyrie deal?

Hera me out…..

They clearly we’re willing to at the right price.

Westbrook and 1 pick is a massive under pay.

Could they have said….he isn’t the preference. But, if they are giving him away, fuck it?

Look, Rob has already done this 3 Star team dance to catastrophic results.

Maybe he wants to actually have a balanced team, by doing the Utah trade, to avoid another Westbrook over Buddy debacle.

Now, if they do nothing now and nothing of substance this Summer?

Fuck, just trade Lebron.

Possibly. Maybe even probably based on what Kobe always said about him.

According to what was reported earlier, the Lakers had a deal they were willing to do if Kyrie was willing to sign the 2 year extension and a lower offer if he wasn't.

He wasn't.

Westbrook and a 1st is definitely lower. lol

Also, he had a deal that would have resulted in a more balanced roster, but Lebron and AD wanted Westbrook and said they could make it work.

But, as you point out, now he has to get something done by Thursday, or over the summer.

They can still make deals from here. They need KD to be KD, for Cam Thomas to get more run and give them 16-20 a game. Get Downhill and Aggressive Ben Simmons that can get guys like Curry Joe Harris and Royce ONeal open looks. In that best case scenario, I can see them Eastern Conference Finals. They can likely beat one of Celtics Bucks Sixers in a series but not 2 out of 3.
KD would have to channel his inner MJ.....

LOL.

Yep.

He did it their way with Westbrook, against his better judgement.

Now, he needs to do what’s best for the Lakers, not just what’s best for Lebron’s legacy.

Sure they can make deals. But nothing that is going to transform the team.

Right now the Nets don't have KD or Simmons. It's very easy to see them wind up as the 6 seed or even a playin team. That means they are likely going to need to go through at least 2 of the top 3 teams. That seems exceedingly unlikely.

The exact same thing as in let him play and see how it works out, not as far as assets

They were worried he would leave?

At this point they have traded away so many picks over the years what is the difference? Plus if Lebron is pissed and leaves, it is even worse.

They aren't interested in signing him to a 4 year deal. No one is. He wouldn't sign the 2 year extension that could have sealed the deal.

In order for the Lakers to be able to trade for him, Westbrook had to be moved. To do that, and get Kyrie, the Lakers would have to include 2 firsts.

You don't give up that much for a 3 month rental. Especially when you already know that you don't intend to give him what he is demanding.

What the Mavs gave up is okay for a possible 3 month rental. Especially when your franchise has never been able to land max level FAs.
