There's more to that trade, isn't there? Still a win, but do we see a championship in their future?
Not enough to offset the fact that the Hawks fucked themselves.

On June 21, 2018, Dončić was selected with the third overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 NBA draft. He was then traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for the draft rights to Trae Young and a protected future first-round pick in 2019.

Chip?

More so so Luka than Young.

But, who knows?

Well get rid of 70 million in salary. It's the salaries more than the headaches. Simmons is being paid a max contract to be a somewhat more skilled Bruce Bowen.

I'm not sure that the Nets SHOULD do that but trading Kyrie for scraps and some draft picks 5 years from now doesn't sound all that appealing.

When you have a superstar on your roster, salary dump trades should not be a thing.

Looking at them now post Kyrie trade are they even a contender now? It makes most sense for them to deal KD now.

If Irving walks in the offseason.....Dallas only has 105 mill in salary.....

So they'd have about 25-30 mill to sign some guys?

Not that Dallas is a FA destination....

Mark Cuban isn't dumb. He likely figures it will work out great this year or not. He can watch them in the playoffs. If it doesn't work, move on...Not much lost, but a lot to gain. If it does work offer him a long term contract.

The Lakers could have done the exact same thing...

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

The Nets were not going to take Westbrook back, which means a 3rd team was going have to be involved.

Getting Kyrie was going to cost 1 first rounder. Getting another team to take on Westbrook was going to cost another first round pick.

The Lakers would also have had to give up a couple of players too. According to reports, it would have been Reaves and Christie, each of whom have shown they can at least be solid rotational players.

They were willing to do that if Kyrie would have signed the 2 year extension that is available. He wasn't willing to sign it.

The Lakers, rightfully so, were not willing to give all of that up for a potential 3 month rental.

The Mavs gave up 2 good rotational players a 1st and some 2nds.

So no, the Lakers couldn't have done "the exact same thing".

GAWD, I love this guy…lol

Giannis posted video on Sunday of a great interaction he had with a young fan in the tunnel. Giannis saw a sign, challenging him in Rock Paper Scissors for his shoes, and Giannis jumped at the opportunity to take on the young kid. The fan showed paper, and Giannis showed rock. Without hesitation, Antetokounmpo took off his shoes (removed the insoles) and gave them to the kid.

So awesome. Cool that he signed them too.

Dude just gets it.
