I think they buy him out but the Lakers would maybe throw in Walker. Those LA picks would be more valuable. Like you said, KD is out then. Maybe he stays if Lowry is there but either way he isn’t happy
Why would a team that thinks they are a contender trade for a guy and then buy him out?

They won’t have cap space to replace him.

They are negative 70 million in cap space.

If they give away Kyrie, buyout Russ that puts them negative 20 million .

They have to replace him with useful players.

Not sure Lowry qualifies.

But, he’s more useful than Russ.

Well to be fair, I don’t think it happens in general. KD & Russ seems like drama waiting and Simmons and Russ…it’s difficult to imagine a lineup with both of those guys. Yeah a buyout doesn’t make sense, the trade in general makes less sense UNLESS they know KD is out and requests a trade. Then they just blow it up.

Yep.

I just don’t see how they can blow it up.

Nobody is paying top dollar for Durant, let alone Kyrie.

I get it…sort of.

Teams are lowballing Kevin because they believe the Nets are vulnerable.

But, Durant is under contract.

They don’t have to trade him and he isn’t the sitting out type.

They can just wait for better offers in the summer.

The Nets have no cap, no picks.

They are pretty fucked.

he's never going to get a long term contract but people continously ignore the nets problem in this as well

I never heard of a team goal being included in a contract offer.

Kyrie is Kyrie and most years he should get until proven otherwise is 2 years but i don't think any player would agree to the terms of a deal if it is tied to a team goal such as winning a ship

That's a good point.

It's almost as if they wanted him to turn down the contract.

Why else would they tie it to something like that when they could tie it to number of games played among other things?

What I get out if that is the Nets know of no other way to try to get their moneys worth out of this guy.

I love the guy. Shannon Sharpe is a clown. Glad Brooks stood up to him.
I’m not sure why it matters Brooks stood up to a fan. Such an honorable man lol.
Brooks tries to be that tough guy but he is bad at it and everyone knows it in the league. Can’t respect that guy

Did the details ever link?

Because, if it was a bonus for winning the chip, that’s is guys contract all the time, along with MVP, All NBA etc

But, if it is a flat out stipulation to void the deal, make it for less years, or pay him 10 mil less for example…

Fuq outta here.

In fairness, looks like the Zion, Issac kinda deals will be more common.

Teams are trying to protect themselves from Amare, Kawhi, Chandler Parsons type injury situations.

So, not too much of a stretch to try to shield themselves from malcontents like Houston did with Porter Jr.

Problem is, Kyrie believes he is above it all.

He isn’t.

He’s Uber talented, a champion.

But, he’s also a narcissistic, egomaniac who puts self before team.
