Apologies.

You didnt say NBA specifically.

My point still stands.

Your rec League officiating doesn’t put your opinion on the matter any higher than my rec league playing experience.

The fact that you threw that shit out there like some kinda coup de grace is kinda insulting….and laughable.

Doesn’t it?

Because I have been 5 feet away and missed those calls before. I know how hard it is.

Best analogy I can give…

You even been looking for an object, but can’t find it? Then someone else walks in and finds it right away in a pretty obvious spot?

It is like that over and over.

Way easier to see the play clearly when you aren’t responsible for calling the action.

All I am saying is those on here ref bashing don’t appreciate the difficulty of the job.

Does not give you or him standing to declare my opinion does not count because I haven’t done it.

Have you ever been a politician?

You can clearly see that shit is broken and needs a overhaul, no?

That’s my only point.

Overhaul the system.

I am with you 100%.

Just don’t say they are bad at their jobs until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

Those 3 guys last night were extremely bad at their jobs in that moment. End of the game, all the focus was on one guy that had the ball. You can’t miss that.

Not trying to be condescending.

I asked you whether you had reffed because you made the comment about the play being 5 feet away.

If you had reffed before you would know it is much more complicated than that.

I can promise you that the ONLY way to really appreciate the intricacies of the job is to do it.

Players and coaches view the game through entirely different lenses.

I don’t think I am better than anyone because I have had some experience reffing. I am sure there are some on my side of this who haven’t reffed before.

But I do know with 100% certainly that everyone sounding off about officials would change their tone if they knew what it was like to actually do it.

You are implying those calls are easy to make, and I can assure you there is no such thing as an easy call in the closing seconds of a basketball game.
I am implying that last non call on Lebron was easy to make.

So, again I ask…..

Should everyone sounding off on Police brutality shut their pie holes too?

Next to teaching, hardest job on the planet.

You have never done it.

But, I’m positive you’ve made yourself known on the subject.

This totally reminds me of the mini row we had a few months back when I kept posting all the disgusting shit about teachers and you got upset and asked me to stop.

You had no issue with the anti cop rhetoric.

But, the minute it struck a cord with you personally, it was a problem.

This is that shit all over again.

Keep the same energy, my guy.

Just because it’s not a personal attack on your experiences, job, hobbies etc doesn’t mean you can’t take issue with it.

Bro, I can say what I want.

They are bad at their jobs, they are bad at their jobs, they are bad at their jobs.

Super petty and immature.

But, it doesn’t stop the world from turning.

You have a comment about shit outside your wheelhouse often.

FOH…lol

I don't believe that I have said that anyones opinion "doesn't count".

I have pushed back on people who post that the refs are incompetent and, in at least one case, claimed that they could do better despite never having done it.

You mentioned law enforcement. You have 1st hand experience. I have 2nd hand experience. When talking about some of the issues faced, I do and always will, defer to you because of your experience compared to mine. I would also never claim that I could do the job better than you because I haven't done it.

Not you.

You don’t do that.

Im talking about @tlance .

He has said multiple times that we should stop complaining until we walk a mile in a refs shoes.

That is pure HUBRIS.

If I came on here and said the guys who murdered Ahmad Arbery were justified, you would tell me to go fuck myself because you have eyes and a working brain.

My having done the job would not override your common sense nor ethics.

Lots here. Going to make 2 separate posts about the 2 big pieces.

That is just it…

That last call on LeBron is not easy to make. Not even close.

It happened quickly. There were 7 players, 4 Celtics and 2 Laker teammates within a step and half of LeBron.

Notice that the 2 angles used to show the foul in slow motion are NOT the angle that the baseline ref had who was closest to the play.

And in that moment, under the current review the psychology is that you got to be 1000% percent sure to blow that whistle in that spot.

Especially in the road, even though that part shouldn’t matter. But it absolutely plays into the psychology of the play.

They took it too far, the refs on the floor don’t have to be the ones reviewing the calls. Simple out of bounds calls can be made very quickly from the replay center.

Yeah, a "booth review" would be good. The problem is working it in without disrupting the flow of the game too much.

Also, what do we do about non-calls. Imo, arguably the biggest issue in NBA games is calls that aren't made that should have been like Tatums foul on Lebron? Fouls that aren't called, aren't reviewable.

Should there be a booth review on that? If there was, Lebron is shooting 2 free throws. That was the last play of regulation, so it wouldn't have interrupted the flow. But what about similar plays that happen throughout the game.

I get it.

And honestly? Since that conversation with you?

I have tried to stay out of those conversations about police. And I was absolutely reading your takes on Memphis because you have perspective I lack.

2 more examples of extremely difficult jobs, teaching and policing. These are jobs where it isn’t possible to get every call right.

Unfortunately with policing the stakes are life and death.

And I am of the opinion that wanting to make something better is always a good thing.

So let’s focus the talk about making it better instead of putting down the people trying to do an impossible job.

And FYI I don’t put you in that category of the constant gripers.
