I doubt he would have missed out entirely. From what I remember fans only voted for the starters. Didn't coaches fill out the rest of the roster? He would have been a lock for that.
So a deserving player that would have made it as a reserve miss out? Cool

You are way oversimplifying.

To get that out they have to concede something else.

How about just not selecting undeserving players for all star games?

Problem solved.

Actually, I'm not. You're trying to pretend it's more complicated than it really is.

That's why it's a negotiation. Obviously, there was something that was more important to the players than the All Star game being part of the criteria for a supermax.

If not having the ASG being part of the criteria is now more important to them, then the players can negotiate it out and give up something else that is less important to them.

Did any of you go online and do any voting? I didn’t. I watch games. I don’t do that Fan Boi voting for All Star shit like my wife used to do voting for American Idol and shit.

The dangerous piece of the fan vote is a player like Linsanity coupled with the NBA’s international efforts. Yao Ming was an All Star but dude got the most votes every year. Was he worthy of being the top vote getter all those years? Go read the comments section of any NBA centered post on social media. The comment section looks like all of South East Asia chiming in. These are likely a glut of voters. I don’t know maybe I’m a snob.
Hey, you're back.

Who would you class as a 'deserving player'?

After the first 10-12 players, the remaining guys could literally be picked out of a group of 20. Someone was going to miss out regardless.

To me the best team would be out on the floor by letting the coaches decide, can’t vote for your own player.

Oh, for sure.

I just used Him as an example.

One of the worst ever fan voting situations was probably back in 2011.

Yao Ming got voted as a Starter.

He missed the entire previous season and only played 5 games in 2011-12.

But, China has 1.4 billion people.

So, will of the fans?

Nah.

You act like they are the only ones that have one.

Plus, it doesn’t really matter what either of us think.

The NBA did away with the 100% fan voting, and that’s that.

No, I don't.

I have said very clearly that they can negotiate it.

They'll likely have to give something up, but that's how negotiations work.

Agree with the rest, but imo, they should give it back.

As I've said, the players don't take it seriously and the media holds grudges and/or has some underling vote for them.

Considering those things...who else but the fans should be voting on what is sold as the fans game?

You Ninja’d me.

Zsa Zsa was the final straw.

Yao was the most egregious.

Never thought about the media angle.

Can agree with that.

Players vote is just GARBAGE.

Remember when Harden got picked LAST?

Imagine that happening on the court before the game?

Because, that’s the format this year.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

As much as I don't really care for the new format, that part I DO like.

It'll be very interesting.
