Good thing the NBA doesn’t or we would have Westbrook being a all star over Dame Lillard.

Possibly. But that's the will of the fans. Opinions are always going to vary.

And from the top of my head, Westbrook was 6th and Dame 7th. Chances are neither could make it.

And again, it's because the players have allowed it.

Additionally, if the players are that concerned about the monetary aspect of it, then they should either start taking it more seriously or negotiate it out in the next CBA.
The players allowed what?

It’s called a negotiation.

These Dudes gave themselves 3 avenues to get the extra year.

There is only 1 MVP.

So, most gotta get there by all star and all nba.

Dame Lillard is putting up 30 ppg.

Seems like he’s taking it pretty seriously.

He can’t make anyone vote for him.

Sure.

It has been the will of the fans for years.

Which is why it’s not anymore.

Is it though?

Why would the players push for that clause?

It is in the players’ best interest for anybody able to negotiate to get that supermax money.

That sounds to me like owners pushing for something to protect their interest and limit the number of players eligible for super max deals.

These deals are collectively bargained. That means give and take. Pretty sure that is a give from the players and a take for the owners.
Exactly…lol

Like the players wanted it this way.

Again...And?

If it's that important to the players, negotiate it out.

The way they vote and the fact that they haven't negotiated it out, tells me that it's more important to you and a couple of others on here than it is to them.

You are way oversimplifying.

To get that out they have to concede something else.

How about just not selecting undeserving players for all star games?

Problem solved.

Kyrie Irving is more deserving than Jose Alvardo for example

What was wrong with the old way of voting though? Did something happen that drastically needed to change?

That being said, I do like the new format of the game though. the last few games have been really fun to watch.

Exactly, it's a negotiation. Which means that if it's important enough to the players, they can negotiate it out.

Yeah, they gave themselves 3 avenues and one of them is a popularity contest and always has been. That's on them.

Perhaps they should negotiate to replace All Star game appearances with making first, second or third team All-Defense or something. Or maybe add it and they have to make 3 of the 4?

Yeah, it was a few years ago.

Zsa Zsa got damn near all of Georgia, the Country not the State, to vote for him.

That was the last straw.

Yes, he played for the Dubs.

But, he’s a career 7ppg player.

Imagine Joker missing starting because the Dubs fan base is bigger?

I doubt he would have missed out entirely. From what I remember fans only voted for the starters. Didn't coaches fill out the rest of the roster? He would have been a lock for that.

Bane has only played 29 games.

So, yeah…

I actually had to look it up and I’m actually surprised.

But, Kyrie is at 27ppg.

The dangerous piece of the fan vote is a player like Linsanity coupled with the NBA’s international efforts. Yao Ming was an All Star but dude got the most votes every year. Was he worthy of being the top vote getter all those years? Go read the comments section of any NBA centered post on social media. The comment section looks like all of South East Asia chiming in. These are likely a glut of voters. I don’t know maybe I’m a snob.
