Absolutely.

Social media also plays a huge part.

Every missed call goes up in seconds and spreads like a wildfire, going viral, in minutes.

Great point.
People think it's so much worse lately when it's the same but every missed call is all over the media for us to bitch about. There were just as many 10 years ago and 20 years ago...

Yeah, totally agree.

I had not thought about it from that perspective.

So, I definitely concede on that point.

And that is why I push back every time people on here rage about the refs being bad.

I don’t put you in that category.

Nothing wrong with complaining about a missed call or discussing ways to improve things.

But I just have to laugh at people who say it is getting worse. I feel like they lack perspective.

Well, Devil’s Advocate…..

I am a little older than some of the folks here.

Twitter, 24hr news cycle, NBA League pass hasn’t been around for the majority of my fandom.

So, it looks like a increase because I am watching more.

Its kinda like Covid.

The spread looked like it was exploding for the better part of a year.

…..in some cases, it was.

But, the reality was, it was just that more people were actually getting tested.

Perception is reality.

Still, it’s uncool to just dismiss what others believe out of turn.

Both sides are doing it to an extent.

I still think there is some validity to the claim, if nothing more, it’s a lack of consistency by the refs.

And, the NBA isn’t doing itself any favors with that L2M report.

@Stakesarehigh

Yup.

You have been saying this all week.

Lets see if anyone offers something that could change their minds.

That’s good production at that salary slot.

I see them trading Bey before anyone. But for the right price only Cade Ivey and Duren are off limits imo.

I think the challenge system helped.

But, even that needs to be tweaked.

If your challenge is successful, you should keep it.

Agree about the selective enforcement.

But, that kinda runs along the lines of what @trojanfan12 said.

Different crews have different officiating styles.

Players and fans have to adapt accordingly.

They don't want the game slowing down, but they should get one per half imo. They could speed it up by having NJ make the calls faster...Seems like a great job in secaucus, i wonder how much they get paid to chill in some room, look at plays but then not even make the final call lol

Agree.

The bang bang plays really come down to semantics.

I don’t have any issues with that.

Its the other ones.

The L2M report is just gasoline on a forest fire for the anti-ref contingent.

I don’t think I fall into that category.

I don’t think any of us do.

But, haters usually don’t.

Before covid , I put the stripes on

It is a thankless job

I don’t miss it at all

The bang bang plays are fine. They’re hard.

The other reality, and why I said add another ref is, sometimes you just don’t have an angle as bodies pile up or move in front of you and can screen you from the play

The other thing is the nba should be making it easier for them by not having garbage like the semi circle which just adds an unnecessary layer of complication

The nba can solve rules by requiring offensive players to maintain verticality on their jumpers to avoid the sideways jumping to create contract bullshit and then brutally enforce it

Lakers roster: "We could really use some wings or another front court player to play with AD"

Rob Pelinka: "MOAR SHORT GUARDS PLEASE!!!"

Trading Russ would create a spot

Would you rather have the rest of this Season with Russ…

or

This year and next of Lowry?

Van fleet is a no brainer, as long as you are willing to pay him.

He just turned down 114 million.

So, it’s a legitimate issue.

Lowry is the better player and if the lakers did a deal like that (assuming no first since Lowry has a longer contract) they could use lowry’s salary and three future first round picks, in theory.

The biggest problem is the only way it works is Lowry and Duncan

Which is almost a wash salary wise

Theoretically you can get a third team involved for Duncan, but it’s hard to get here otherwise

That actually makes a lot of sense.

The biggest issue with lumping the Westbrook deal in with the picks is that it expires before they can attach the 3rd one.

Lowry’s extra year solves that dilemma.

Exactly.

It really puts a beal trade on the table. Especially if they trade the New Orleans picks for a future first to buy more time.

Arizona is a weird transplant state.

You have the retirement community demographic and the really young college kids.

Very few in between.

So, most of the greeters/receipt checkers are elderly.

If that’s also the case where you are, did she have her glasses on?

Seriously, they usually put the people with mobility scooters in that position here.

So, maybe she couldn’t see?

:dhd:
She was an old ass white Karen who had no problem "seeing" the handful of white people's receipts in front of us smiling at them and just briefly scanning their receipts. We come up and get a frown and then she snatches the damn receipt out of my wife's hands. That put me on high alert and then it went from there.
