I wouldn’t pay that much for him
I’m there too. It’s harder for the Warriors because the guy was a part of championship teams there and should likely have the chance to retire there. I think 20-25 is the value. At the same time, I’m out on bringing him in entirely now if I’m a non-Warrior team because I agree he isn’t worth that investment in my eyes.

Should be a decent hire for them. He's a great defensive coach but really lacks imagination (to put it kindly) with the offensive sets he runs. Having both KD and Booker should help that out quite a bit but I can see them running into issues where it bogs down into isos or real simple two man actions. If they're able to bring in some good offensive assistants and also keep Kevin Young (he might go with Monty to Detroit), Phoenix will be doing things nicely

That's a good hire for them.

I was against the Lakers firing Vogel.

I understand why they did...but I was still against it.

I liked him too.

Suns fans got a great coach. Just be aware of the timeout he takes 3 minutes into the start of the game, whether they're winning or losing :pound:

Yeah I see KD and booker as basically running that offense

Plus you can hire good assistants to help with that

That's kind of why I asked what you would be willing to pay him on the open market. I'm just curious what he would be making from other teams looking for his services.

I also know he played poorly in the playoffs, but people are discounting what he did throughout the season. He had his 3rd highest PPG of his career at 21.9 ppg. Shooting splits were 43.6/41.2/87.9 which weren't that far off from his career averages. Defensively he has for sure slipped, but overall he's still a capable/average defender. So he's not a poor one.

What do you all think about the Vogel hire in Phoenix?

Not sure he is better than Monty but I like it. Think they are both good coaches. The Suns owner just wanted his guy....

Lakers would have had a much better chance against Denver with Vogel at the helm, IMO.

You can bet he would have helped with the transition defense.

Agree. I like Ham and I think he's going to be good.

But a rookie HC is still a rookie HC.

He came up with some solid schemes that helped the Lakers be in position to win each of those 4 games...

but he never was able to get a handle on the transition defense and that had a lot to do with why they lost.

Like you said, Vogel likely comes up with something.

Yeah I don’t think rookie ham was the problem, but he also wasn’t the solution

To some degree, a recently put together core of players is going to be tough for either coach.
