Oddly enough, he could in one of two ways. His play could either cause someone to drop him in their top 3 or it could cause a voter to pump him closer to one or even take a first place vote from what was in the straw poll. I think the straw poll reveals that it’s a 2 man race now. Like I’ve said, if Giannis gets the MVP, I’ve got nothing. Best player on the league’s best team. He’s an elite defender. He’s a champion as the best player in a relatively organic rebuild in tough market to build that kind of team. That’s a guy who has earned the overall status to be mentioned alongside other NBA players who have won 3 times. Jokic has 5 overall playoff wins over the two years in which he has won. Embiid has won 12 in those two years. Giannis won a championship one year and went to the ECF last year despite being a man down with Middleton. Giannis would get my vote if I’m given charge of one of the votes. To be there, I’m a journalist that takes the responsibility of not being a homer. I would have no problem at all if Giannis wins. That being said, I’m rooting for my guy.
