The Lakers only have 5 games vs the EC....

Plenty of games to move up if they do what they should.
Plenty?

You must be referring to the playin.

There are a hair above 20 games left.

You don’t control your own destiny.

It isn’t enough for you to win more, unless the teams ahead of you start floundering.

Saving grace is that OKC and Utah have several games left against each other.

That is the Lakers best shot to catch and pass both.

23 games left. We have 18 vs the WC. We win 14-15 or so of those and some vs the EC we should be fine.

3rd easiest schedule.

The bet is pending.

TheRinger on Evan Mobley:

It’s not every year when a player enters the NBA drawing legitimate comparisons to Kevin Garnett. But Mobley showed why during a first season that ended with him finishing second in Rookie of the Year by a few voting points. Centers who move so gracefully, with touch, intelligence, footwork, and tenacity, are a cherished breed.

Even though he’s now playing with three teammates who made last year’s All-Star team, Mobley’s growth is still the most important thing happening in Cleveland. There’s a realistic chance that he’ll be their best player by season’s end, a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate who can average 20 points and 10 rebounds in his sleep.

He may already be their most important player. What the Cavaliers need is someone who can plug holes on defense and make sure Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell aren’t exposed too badly. When those two are blitzed on offense, Mobley’s ability to slice up a rotating defense will be key, too. For now, he’s in a glorified complementary role, but if the Cavs get where they want to go, Mobley will be the superstar his rookie season promised he’d be

Plenty...no.

Enough if they continue to play like they did in their last game...yes.

Several teams ahead of them appear to be struggling.,

It shouldn't be too difficult to catch Utah, Portland, OKC and the Warriors (with Steph out).

The Pels should be catchable too since it looks like Zion is still going to be out for a while longer.

The Mavs have lost 3 straight since they got Kyrie, although I'd expect that won't continue.

At this point though, they just need to not even really look at the playoff race or possible seeding and just worry about winning games.

Assuming Lebron and AD stay healthy, 6th is possible, but 7th or 8th seems more likely.

The chatter is starting up here in SF that Draymond is out the door after this year (he has a player option), things are not looking great for this core anymore. I wouldn't be shocked to be honest, then we'll see what they do.

They probably wouldn't do a tear down but you keep Steph and Klay and Wiggins, trade Poole. Maybe you hope Kuminga steps into the starting lineup, he won't replicate Draymond, but he does some things better. Do you bring in Simmons since everyone been calling him young Draymond?

Nothing lasts forever.
Does GS even need Draymond? Does his value equate his salary anymore? I think that is a plus for GS considering his salary. GS doesn’t have a good defense right now so it appears Green doesn’t have the impact he has previously and he has regressed offensively. It was a great run

Interesting...

Windhorst is on Dan Patrick and said the guy he trusts "implicitly" when it comes to talent evaluation for the NBA says that Bronny has improved enough that he will be drafted and will be able to play in the NBA on his own abilities.

He wouldn't give much info as far as draft position, etc, because the guy puts out his own lists etc. He said this complicates Lebron playing with his son because a team won't be signing him as an undrafted FA to try to keep or get Lebron.

Put my fake cash where my mouth is.

Got a pending bet with Mecca. Think we get the 5th or 6th seed.

Not really.

I think that makes the decision for teams a lot easier.

You draft him towards the end of the first round.

Many of those picks miss anyway. And drafting Bronny essentially insures you of also getting the last few years of LeBron.

Easy call for a contender seeking the final piece to the puzzle.

I think Bronny is worth a late 1st even if he isn’t good enough to play in the NBA.

That's just it, their defense would be worst in the league without him unless they replace him with someone like Simmons. And he does so much more than that, they do "need him". But yes the Ws might not mind so much if he declines his option. The thing is it's $30 million so he'd have to take less AAV to go elsewhere. Maybe he plays there one more year using the option. If the Ws suck next year like actually bad not just meh, maybe they deal him at the deadline.
