I like him on the practice squad.
Until we have a decent option on the 53 man squad.
He has legs he can run scout teams from teams with mobile QBs.
If he gets his head on straight he could be very serviceable. If not it isnt costing us anything to cut him later.

A lot of fixable things to him. Like stepping into his throws. Decision making.
FIx those two things alone could be huge. If not. If someone comes to us with actual potential (not just some retread) then replace him. No harm no foul.
right now he has his uses to help the team
He just sucks. Period. The stuff he does cannot be fixed IMO. You either have it or you don't. Constantly just throwing the ball up for grabs and into double coverage, is terrible. Moreover, he played against 3rd and 4th team players and looked horrible. What would he do against 1st teamers?? The NFL is not for him.

ok.
who replaces him?
Someone marginally better? That ain't worth the change to me.
Someone with a lot of potential or someone largely better. Ok I am in. Until then . I'd stick with him.

I get you like Dinucci. Why?? I don't know. LOL. Hopefully, we will never need him.

in the beginning I was hoping he would work out. This is true.
However that didnt happen. I dont think he is NFL ready either.
As of now. I dont ever see him playing for us. but I also rarely think a PS QB is going to anyways. So how can they contribute to help the other players? If he got replaced I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.
His flaws he isnt big time. Meaning his bad decision making is with pressure on him to perform (a death sentence)
He passes off his back foot when it isnt necessary. Causing many of his INTs or bad throws. He could step up & follow through (fixable)
He is fast & mobile. (something I would want in an emergency QB) because if you are bad enough to be relegated to emergency QB you arent making the plays with your passing ability.
but lets go back to the death sentence.
In practice playing as the other teams QB he doesnt have the pressure to perform which is usually when he does better. This helping our team. As a PS player. obviously the coaches like him in practice. He just shits the bed on the field.

I am not advocating for him to get a chance to play. We will always have a PS QB on the roster to lighten loads for the other QBs & etc etc....
So until we go find a guy we think is gonna go after the back up job. (which we dont have at the moment) No reason to lose the features Dinucci can bring to our defenses to practice against as a PS player.

So replacing him with a marginally better pocket passer is worse IMO than Dinucci. We have two other QBs (excluding Dak from all this) that fit that bill for the Defense to play against.

Now like I said before. If we replace him with some new guy with a lot of potential. That would be great. Chances of getting a guy hugely better for practice squad is highly unlikely

To appease your point of view though.
Go get another young mobile guy that brings what DiNucci does. That is marginally better. I am good with that as well.

Most practice squad players are usually nothing more than to help in practices. If they learn & improve & become NFL players then great.
Yes at times we might stash a player on PS until we have room for them. but that is hardly the case with QB. I simply dont look at PS QBs as a possible starter for our team. Has it happened sure. but that would not be my plan for a PS QB.
My PS QB I would not want to be like my other QBs unless I was grooming him. To me you want your PS guy to have different characteristics.
Nowadays its not about liking him. Just how can he or his replacement help the rest of the team. because of either gets to the starting lineup our season is over. So I dont look at him or his replacement as what can they do for us on Sundays. I look at what can they do Tuesday through Saturday.

Will Grier - i like it.
He seems to fit the offense. He is not very big but has an adequate arm. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needed. He is mobile which is crucial if had to come in during mop up time and had Steele at one of the tackles. I have no clue if he can be a decent backup or not.

We saw him play in the regular season last season and he sucked. Cooper Rush as bad as he is probably wins that game. Gilbert probably wins that game as well even though he had just joined the team.

The best thing he can do is run the scout team. His mobility will help in advance of playing some of the QBs on our schedule. Other than that...meh. I do like having someone who could develop on the PS I guess. I would just prefer if it were someone else or someone who could actually play in a game if need be or show the potential to grow into even a competent backup NFL QB. I guess Rush or Grier will end up on PS and Dinucci gone soon so a moot point

the Jerry factor remains this team biggest obstacle and it raised it's ugly head at BU QB this year
Yep. The drafting has improved ,but Jerry continues to make bad choices when it comes to the coaching staff. The Jones also continue to botch contracts.iboth Zeke and Jaylon were paid too soon and too much IMO.. Dak should have been given a contract before those two..

Too be honest I dont have super high expectations for this season.. the only solid depth I see is at linebacker. The secondary is still a problem. They should have brought in a veteran corner. The OL depth was not upgraded. Steele at swing tackle sucks

Well Guys here we go again into another season of Dallas Cowboys Football. I am looking forward to the season. We have holes in the team OT DT secondary BU Qb just to name a few. But every team has holes with luck health and some good coaching we could have a great season.
Let’s go Cowboys!

That is our #1 problem as long time fans. No end in sight either. He will never stay out of the way.

YEP,,,which is why I've posted for YEARS

Till death do us part and I sure hope Jerry goes first so I can see one last championship
There are a lot of Joneses in that luxury box. I suspect we can't out live them all!!

So with the idea of moving 88 around & not being primarily in the slot like last year.
My question is.
Who do you think is primarily in the slot this year?
Does Gallup move to the slot? or be the back up for the #1 & 2 WRs?
Does the other WRs now play the slot?
How do you think you see the slot WR this year?
Maybe a rotation?

I think a rotation. Mostly Cooper and Lamb who have a shiftiness and quickness to their route running that I think plays well in the slot. I'd play Gallup mostly on the outside and think that is better suited to his skill-set. We have played Wilson and Brown in the slot also when they are on the field. Brown probably because it sets him up to block and Wilson because he is great at that quick slant

So when Cooper & Lamb are on outside Gallup on sidelines?

Not necessarily. If all 3 on the field Cooper or Lamb will be in the slot. We will be moving guys a lot.
