The CP3 teams were NEVER a title favorite. He won a title with the Celtics despite their stars clearly being on the downside of their careers.

Last year's team should have done better and it was one of the reasons I wasn't keen on the Sixers hiring him. But let's not pretend that last year was a normal year.
I thought listing DJ as part of a stack was kind of funny. Or a good bench to go along with a player known to fold in the playoffs.

I mean, he's not the coach of my team. I don't think he's anything special. But you are still FOS in your comments.

Deandre Jordan is part of a stacked team? Best bench and 2 stars (one known to fold in playoffs)?

Deandre Jordan, super star. Of course they had perennial all-stars Matt Barnes and Jared Dudley so there is that.

The CP3 teams were NEVER a title favorite.

Only because of Lebron in the East. They were predicted b\y more than one to come out the West a time or 2 and they definitely should have been able to better than 2nd round exits.

Didn't they blow a 3-1 second round lead once too?

So what if they weren't favorites, they were still stacked.

You're making excuses again

Listing an all star player who was also All-NBA 1st team, All-NBA 3rd team (twice), NBA 1st team All-Defensive (twice), the NBA rebounding leader (twice) and who, when he hit FA was one of the most highly sought after players in the league as part of a stacked team is funny?

Yeah the Rockets series was definitely one they blew. No question. But they aren't beating the Warriors even if they beat the Rockets.

I don't want to come off as a Doc apologist because, as I said, I wasn't big on the signing. It looks great now and I'm happy and it does seem like he has a good handle on things. But I do think he has some clear blemishes on his record.

OTOH, it's also possible that even being an average to somewhat above average coach makes him dramatically better than our previous coach.

Why do you think I would be making excuses? Don't care about the Clippers and I've already stated my position on Doc.

Just because I don't buy into your hyperbole doesn't mean I'm defending Doc. He should have beaten the Rockets in 2015. And then lost to the Warriors.

The Clippers were favorites to win the title last season. I call that pretty stacked.

As for Deandre Jordan - All Star in 2017, NBA first team in 2016, twice All-NBA defensive first team, twice NBA rebounding leader

I call that pretty good for the teams 3rd option, if he was even that.

So yeah, Deandre Jordan.

You're trying to shoot down my reasons for calling Doc below average and that "doesn't mean you're defending Doc"?

That is exactly what you're doing.

Somehow if he were coach of any other team other than the Sixers you wouldn't have much to say on the topic.

You might want to look at his accomplishments. A lot of folks forget how good he was (especially defensively) before the league changed.

Solid player. Fringe all-star player. But he made one all-star appearance in his career despite there not exactly being a bounty of centers in the NBA. Very good defensive player but he only had 2 years on the all defense team. So a good guy to have on your team but hardly some super team.

You're back tracking. A minute ago you were mocking the mere mention of him.

I'm saying that you are engaging in hyperbole, as is your norm.

You think Doc is a below average coach? Knock yourself out.

But when you start trying to argue he is a below average coach by comparing him to Hall of Fame coaches, your argument doesn't have a lot of heft to it.

As part of some STACKED team? Yeah, still ridiculous.

Are you saying that the Clippers could have won a title in 2014 or 2015 if they had a better coach?

I'm saying they would have probably done a heck of a lot better than a 2nd round exit.

He's blown a 3-1 lead to advance to the WCF TWICE now.

My argument is that he's underachieved a LOT with all the tools he's had.

And again, if he wasn't currently your HC you wouldn't have a damn thing to say so give me a break.

Ok, I don’t think anyone is putting Doc on their Mount Rushmore of coaching.

There are certainly times were blowing a series lead falls on the coach failing to adjust.

But these times?

I don’t remember too many specifics from the 1st time, but I can tell you definitively that it is not the coaches’ fault when star players are hitting the side of backboard on open corner 3s.

Yes they underachieved. Sometimes when teams underachieve the coach is most responsible for it.

But not the 2020 Clippers, IMO. The players choked.
