Babe Ruth grew up in an orphanage. There’s a 50/50 chance he would have been aborted if he was a contemporary. You can go so many different ways with hypotheticals.

I agree. Which is why I tend to measure players relative to their era.

Sixers trucking teams without Embiid.

Heat belong in a adaptive basketball league without Butler.

He played a long time ago when the game was very different certainly. But it is hard to argue with his success. It is pretty much unprecedented in professional sports.

In his era he was just as dominant at the other guys.
...and many of those other dominant guys were on his team

The thing that is impressive about Tobias is he keeps working on his game. He is just now peaking at 28 years old nearly 10 years in the league. Hes shooting better than ever. If anyone can contend with the Nets its them. Embiid gotta bring his heart with him this year.
Better than ever is debatable. Seems Doc knows how to get him his shots (he was more or less shooting this well with the Clips in 18/19).

Shawn Bradley is paralyzed after his bicycle was hit by a car.

Picturing Bradley riding a bicycle is really hard for me. How big of a bike would he need?

It's hard to say really. Babe was a BIG dude for his era but he would be a pudgy out of shape guy today. He had INCREDIBLE eye hand coordination though. So he would still get some homers. But he wouldn't be able to feast off pretty average to poor pitchers in the back of a team rotation.
Probably a Prince Fielder level player which is much better than league average but not legendary

Back of the rotation pitchers are still a thing today

Not like they were back then. Relievers were mostly not a thing back then. Starting pitchers, ALL starting pitchers, were expected to go 9. They only got pulled when they were getting smoked.

Yes there are factors that would help Ruth then and ones that would hurt him (less science of hitting, bigger parks, etc)

Hence my position that he would not be as good today, but not as bad/average as you are saying. Prince Fielder, nice player, not a HOFer

My God the whole fn world has gone crazy. Just because he was overweight doesn’t mean he couldn’t hit. He dominated in a way few ever have in any sport. His hand eye coordination was off the charts and he will always be one of the best to ever swing a bat. He would have adapted in any era, that’s just a given.

That is a matter of degree and I honestly don't care either way or want to get down to a specific player comp.

It isn't just a given because that isn't how sports work.

Ok Cecil Fielder
Read the article, for most of his career he was 215 lb. 10th all time in batting average, give me a break, I really can’t believe the idiotic stances on this.
