What jumped out at me was what you mentioned last. No doubt that's an issue. Not sure what can be done about it before the trading deadline though. I don't follow players salary or team cap numbers. So not sure what if anything's possible.

Fully healthy, the C's have Marcus Smart... which would help... somewhat.

But I agree... there's no complete solution for the problem the way we're currently constituted...

... some nights, the bit players will hit their 3's and everything will seem fine...

... but from about a third of the time to half of the time, our role players won't hit 3's and then it becomes clear that there is literally nothing else that they can do well on offense.

All I know is I'm not watching them again until there on tv out here. I think they'll figure things out.

Marcus Smart is their glue guy.

He is their best defender and he tends to makes timely shots. Without him in the lineup, it shifts more defensive responsibility onto their stars.

I think he is as important to Celtic success as anybody not named Tatum.

What's crazy to me is that there is a certain, substantial part of the Celtic fanbase that seem more-than-willing to trade Marcus Smart for an "upgrade" somewhere else...

• Is a team leader

But that apparently isn't good enough... not if the C's have a chance to get the next stretch 4 who's on the trading block.

A lot of fans underestimate the value of players like him.

Most contenders have 1 or 2 role players that are absolutely essential. Shane Battier was like the ultimate glue guy. I think Smart is probably better than Battier.
