They need to...dude isn’t even giving an effort like he was early in the season. He gave up

That is exactly true. He can also have 5 steals and yet he will be playing horrible defensively. He is a fraud in a lot of ways. He is not a good interior defender, at times gets lost on defense and leaves guys wide open. Offensively he looks for his own shot-when he is on he looks good but if he isn’t - it’s difficult to win a game bc he is so fixated on doing everything himself with absolutely no post up game.

Funny thing is Allen is 22 and he has more post up moves than Andre.

I know Baynes hasn’t played many minutes but would Toronto reall want to give up Norman Powell to get Drummond? He seems to be playing pretty well this year

It’s been more than just tonight. Do I think this is a better team than last year? I think they can be but they haven’t shown it for most of the season even with the top 2 record in the NBA. So really that is a good thing for the Lakers but AD is injured now and wonder if some of these guys will be clear upgrades when it comes playoff time. I think they will be they are inconsistent at times. I still think they need to bring in a couple pieces at the deadline and most certainly a big man to help Gasol. A long season though

It's still the first half of the regular season. These guys and the Clippers are still the teams to beat out West. But they aren't some no doubt cinch like the 2017 Warriors. Obviously this depends on a healthy AD in the playoffs.

Seems like minor things but sure. No team is perfect/super dominant. And of course they require a healthy AD.

Yeah, I think Gasol, even at an advanced age, is better overall than Dwight. But Dwight would be a perfect complement to him and as you point out, there are certain guys that he is a real problem for.

I thought the Lakers found a real niche for him last year that worked really well for both him and the team.

I'd add that they need a healthy AD who is playing like a top 5 player in the league. If he's playing like a top 6-10 (like he has much of the year) guy, they become more vulnerable.

Rondo and Dwight were dogs though and they were playing out of their mind in the playoffs. At this point, Gasol is a downgrade. Schroder definitely an upgrad defensively. I think this also could just be a case that other teams are playing better...still think the Lakers haven’t found their way yet but that says how great they could be potentially.

Playoffs are a long way off. Only teams out West that can make the Finals IMO are either LA team or Utah

Yeah, normally I'm all about players getting back asap. Even if they have to push it a little bit. But there are certain injuries that you just don't mess with and this is one of them.

Honestly, given his age, if it were to flare up again at playoff time, I'd want them to shut him down the rest of the way. It would suck because it would mean no repeat. But they need him for the future as much as the present. He's the guy they're going to depend on to attract another top FA or 2 when Lebron finally hangs them up.

I got it! Trade Griffin to Boston for some bench players and/or two late 2nd round picks. Then the Celtics can turn around and trade Griffin to Detroit for Drummond.
