Wonder if what we saw last game is a longterm plan......Garland off the bench. They can do it, I think, if Sexton can pass like he did last game. 9 assists not needed, but needs to be in the 4-6 range.

Not sure such a given Drummond is gone as I doubt a team will deplete their roster to match the salary (as how can they still stay good) and doubt the Cavs takes bad a bad contract. Wonder if they think he and Allen can co-exist longterm (or if Drummond wants to)? We know we have an owner who wouldn't be shy about paying both.
I think once Darius is fully healthy we will see him back in the starting lineup. He is a good facilitator.

First thing I thought of was Complete Games for pitchers.
They just don't pitch like they used to, so K, Wins, all those counting number records will never even be approached again.

Pete Rose hits record, probably Hack Wilson’s RBI total, and maybe a couple other offensive numbers like the SB record.

Looked up some info on baseball.-almanac.com. Wilson got his 191 rbi's in 1930. The closest anyone has come to that record that didn't play in the *30's was Manny Ramirez in '99. He had 165 rbi's.

* = the Iron Horse came close in '31. He had 184. Hank Greenberg in '37 had 183. After that nobody has gotten within 10 rbi's of the all time record in decades.

Yeah, 191 is insane.

I feel like those elite hitters get pitched around when they are going that hot.

Also relief specialists make it tougher to post ridiculous RBI totals.

I don't think the record for a manager getting thrown out of a game (162 by Bobby Cox) will be beaten.

Wonder if these records will ever be broken?

-Ryan's 5,714 K's
-Joe D's 56 game hit streak
-Ty Cobb's .366 lifetime BA
-Rogers Hornsby's .424 BA in 1924
-18 W.S. hr's- Mickey Mantle

Ryan's - Doubtful. Pitchers don't throw enough innings anymore.
DiMaggio's - Probably. But not until MLB players start being embarrassed to strike out again. Whatever the record for the record for striking out is, is more likely to be broken.
Cobb's - See DiMaggio.
Hornsby - Doubtful. Even if players start being embarrassed to strike out again.
Mantle - Doubtful. I don't think anyone will get there enough.

All the trends of using relievers more makes these records tougher to beat.

Fewer pitchers going through the order a 3rd and 4th time means less production from hitters.

I don’t think these trends are likely to reverse for the same reason NBA teams aren’t going to stop shooting 3s to go back to playing through the post.

Analytics.

Cannot say I saw that one and would definitely disagree with it if Harden is included in his assessment.
He said it.

We all saw it and were shocked. And we all have known Wiggy so we have built in shock value when it comes to him.

I think I know what he was trying to say, I don't think he said it very well.

I think he was basing it on age. In 3 years, Harden will be 34-35 years old with ton of usage on him. Jarrett Allen will be 25. I think he was basically saying that in 3 years, when Harden is 34-35, Allen will be the better player at that time.

Even that is probably a stretch, but a bit more realistic. Unfortunately, considering his inability to see past his biases, we can't exactly rule out that he meant what the others said.

Ripken's games played streak won't be broken.

Yeah. The players that are good enough to be able to play long enough to break it, are all corporations and less likely to be willing to play through various injuries. Those that are, will usually be stopped by the team to "protect their investment".

Sure.

Except we all know he wouldn’t have said it if Allen were traded to Portland.

And for him to be the best player in the deal, he also has to be better than Oladipo and LeVert in a league where wings and guards are king.

Unlikely doesn’t even begin to cover it.
