it would have been hard for Tatum, Brown, GH and Walker to all get enough touches.....
I think that's exactly what Hayward was thinking... at least in part.

I also think that his wife and family wanted more of a small market setting. There was no ill-will against Boston IMO, but a big market town can be very "extra"... especially if a guy getting max money isn't producing up to his pay... (in this case, because of injuries, but still).

Not to the level that he is because he wouldn't be the focal point of the offense. But he's playing like the guy they thought they were getting before his body started falling apart. Him playing at this level would be a huge help to the Celtics. For him it was about not being able to stay healthy.

It is tough.

Because him being the focal point of the offense is a a big part of why he is playing the way that he is.

It is really hard to be an aggressive decision maker when you know you are the 3rd or 4th option. Being the focal point simplifies some decisions in a lot of ways.

The only good play for the Cavs. I could tell from the tip it was going to be a very long night. Cavs a step slow all night and you could tell the C’s were out to prove a point...
That's the way it is in the regular season in the NBA...
  • Cleveland coming off 2 recent wins against Brooklyn, on top of the world...
  • And Boston, coming off 2 recent losses to their rivals in Philly... feeling low...
If two teams like that meet in the next game, you very well might see what we saw last night... the team coming off of a low playing with renewed spirit... and the team on top of the world coming out flat...

After a pretty good winning streak, the Celtics recently got levelled by the freakin' Knicks... it happens.

I kinda figured the Celtics would show out tonight... they had lost a few in a row and a lot of the chatter in Boston media was about how the C's aren't playing defense and maybe not putting in enough effort.

The Cav's are kind of in the wrong place at the wrong time this evening. ;)
Tough D AND making everything.

Doesn't make a difference last night, but in general I'd like to see sexton be more assertive and take more 3s. Sure it's nice he gets teammates more involved (not when he's passing to the opponent, of course) but if he can make 40%+ from 3 and can get it when he wants take the shot.

I fully expect Kerr to do something strange tonight like swap out Wiseman for Looney in the starting lineup. It would be very on-brand with what he thinks is necessary to jump start this lineup. Taking out an offensive threat to further weaken offensive efficiency wouldn't surprise me at all. His reason will be "defense" but even then our defensive lineup hasn't been good either.

Also just saw a crazy stat that in 403 minutes together, Oubre has 3 assists to Steph. 2 of the assists, barely qualify for an assist and the third was an inbound pass where Steph just took and made a 25 ft 3 pointer. Lol.

"According to Jason Dumas of KRON4 News, the Nets are showing Interest in Cavaliers big man Kevin Love. They have also been engaged with Cleveland about a deal for JaVale McGee. ... McGee, 33, is averaging 8.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 44.7% from the field and 33.3% from deep."

McGee makes sense. Love makes no sense..they have to match salaries and they have little to no draft capital

They would probably have to make a deal including Harris and DJ. That would make zero sense

Make it a package deal.....Irving for Love, Sexton, and McGee.

G-Harden/Shamet
G-Sexton//Harris/Brown
F-KD/Harris/TLC
F-Love/Green/Perry
C-Jordan/McGee/Claxton

Loaded.

The Cavs get Irving back and team him up with Garland, Drummond and co.

LOL.

Actually, Harris and Jordan would work for Love I think.....here's the thing......KD and the Nets love Jordan so they probably won't do it. And the Nets wouldn't want to give up Harris because he's a sniper.

And the Nets would be even thinner than they are now.

If I were the Nets I'd kick the tires on Drummond more than Love or McGee.....he'd be great for them. Rebounding, defense and scoring on putbacks/offensive rebounds. And Jordan could come off the bench.
