I really like Okoro. I think he can become a really nice 2 way player. I don’t know how Morey thinks but the guys I value most on the Cavs roster (at least for the Sixers) would go, in order
1. Garland
2. Okoro
3. Markinnen
4. Sexton

Of course, I’m working from the assumption that they’re obviously not parting with JA or Mobley. I’m not interested in even considering any of the other guys on the roster.
I think I'd rather have Sexton over Markkenen and Okoro but I get why he'd be last as you prefer Garland the most and no way you'd want both of them.

any idea if Reddick liked playing with Simmons? He's a guy the cavs could use if they wanted to get more shooting (and gave up Sexton.)

Yep I think they would actually strongly consider this deal if Tobias didn't fit in the 4 so well. He was playing some great bball. So like I said, why acquire Love to sit the bench. I mean I guess Harris could play some minutes at the 3 but they want a trade that will benefit everyone.
Love can also give them some minutes at 5 when Embiid sits.

Haliburton would be under the same category as Garland, Sexton, Okoro...potential an unknown so to me that isn't enough. Throw in Hield, maybe.

It seems like most of the options are young guys that are unknowns for the future, other than Beal or Lillard but it doesn't sound like either is going anywhere.
Have a feeling most think Garland and sexton are at worse very good players. (might think same of Haliburton) Agree Okoro an unknown.

Agree and like I said earlier I don't think Garland is going anywhere. Obviously, the Sixers would probably want him most out of all Cavs players. Even Okoro is not likely. I think it would be a combination of Sexton, Markkanen, cap filler and picks. At this point, I just don't think that is enough but it depends on what kind of offers Philly gets. Obviously that traded couldn't be finalized until the 2nd week of the season or so.

Stein did bring up a good point, the entire reason of getting Markkanen could be to get a bigger fish bc he really doesn't fit...I mean he could definitely be a bench piece but then you have two PF's combining $47M sitting coming off the bench. We will see.
wonder if that is something they'd run by Markkenin before getting him to agree to a deal. If the guy was totally opposed to going to Philly and you dealt him there I cannot imagine that sits well with the agent (or even other players).

hard to imagine, though, he'd be willing to come here and hate the idea of being in Philly.

Well I just mean we don't know the potential (ceiling) for any of those players. If the Sixers want an established, veteran AS none would fit. If they want a right now All-Star/borderline AS player--potential still unknown...none of those players would fit EXCEPT Sexton. He's already proved he is close to that level.

Agree we don't know ceiling of them but think we might have a decent idea......at least we can be far closer than we would with Okoro.

what other 3rd teams do you see and would you prefer?

I know the Kings had some interest but they arent trading Fox- and would a deal based on Haliburton be enough? ehhh...

golden state has some young guys---- but you run into the esame problem as above- and Simmons is a very bad fit with Draymond

-would you want Beal from the Wiz? How much do they value him and would they want MORE than just Simmons? thats a possibility.

thats the problem with Simmons- is you need win-now talent, but teams are not going to give up the big- all star level win now pieces when they know that the Sixers are aiming to trade Simmons and he does not want to play there- and the teams that are competing just saw him fall flat on his face during the playoffs.

what are 2 deals that are non-Cavs, non-portland that you would like that you feel are realistic?
The aggregate of a Kings deal is of most value to me. It’s not just Halliburton, it would also be Buddy Hield. Sixers would have the potential for monster shooting around Embiid and then you lean on Curry and Hield over playing jumpers knowing Embiid lurks in the back. I see Halliburton and Thybulle as having nice complimentary game to one another. I think with that deal the Sixers have some nice roster construction that gives them versatility to close. Cleveland fits in here if the Kings look at ball dominant Fox and says we don’t want ball dominant Simmons but they might have value for Markinnen and Okoro and maybe one of Garland or Sexton although they have similar style game to Fox like Simmons would in terms of being most effective with the ball in their hands. I would even be open to a deal where Atlanta is the third team but it skews in the direction of getting pieces from Atlanta like Hunter and/or Bogie if Atlanta like Markinnen to be a 3 headed 4/5 combo with Collins and Capela. I don’t know though from Atlanta’s end what they want. They want Maxey in that deal so sending Sexton or Garland seems like similar fit if that’s the desire.
In each of those deals there’s a mix of both potential (Halliburton/Hunter) and a proven commodity that fits the Sixers roster construction (Hield/Bogie). The Cavs deal just brings the potential and admittedly more swings at somebody being a home run but Sixers window is tight and focus right now should be on maximizing the Embiid opportunity.

The Horford deal for the Sixers was a bust but it revealed information. Biggest take away is that Harris can’t play the 3. He can’t defend that position and he’s not a catch and shoot guy. Another take away was that when Embiid was out and Horford played the 5, it was the best I’ve seen Ben Simmons.

For 3pt he absolutely is.

but yeah he seems to have been better on pull ups than catch and shoots at the 2 pt fgs

Simmons is definitely a bit of a risk, too, though. Sure, decent chance he can go back to the guy he was before the playoffs but that is no lock. some might say Simmons contract makes him an even bigger risk, especially if he does not snap out of his funk.

Idea Cavs are not sold on Sexton not exactly true. Because they would listen for offers as not the best fit with garland does not mean he's not one hell of a player. A good fit on Philly? Not sure. Ironically, more of a fit for them WITH Simmons.

as to the 15 range for a pick that might be better than they'd get with many of the other teams they might be in talks with.
If you look closely, outside of his series with Miami in his first playoffs (largely played without Embiid due to injury), Ben Simmons was the same guy in this playoffs that he has been in the playoffs in his career. It’s fair to say that Simmons may not be a playoff player when less transition is available and the game becomes more half court. But this idea that he is in a funk I think is overblown. The kid got targeted with hack a Ben and he didn’t handle it well. That took place over the course of like 3 weeks in the kids life. No one has seen him adjust to that yet. I think Simmons has little risk for the Cavs. He immediately makes them a better defensive team. He’s a guy who doesn’t need shots and instead assisted on more 3s than anyone else in the league. He makes other pieces better. What people are going to find is that Ben Simmons was matched through the stars of the NBA draft with likely the worst player he could be paired with. He needs a 5 that will play away from the rim like a Lopez or a Mobley. When the lane isn’t clogged he can get to the rim at will and finish or dish. Now…add in the skill set he still possesses at 25 years old plus the international embarrassment of the playoffs that it takes to drive a diva that has been told he’s the greatest all his life coupled with a team quitting on him publicly in the post game (Embiid Rivers) and I’ll roll the dice on this guy with new scenery becoming the best player on the Cavs roster and a top 15 player in the league and maybe the league’s best two way player. I think there’s a ton of reward potential here with minimal risk if he continues to be the same player he’s been.

If you just watch numbers, I agree. But his game is his game at this point and I’ve watched nearly every game he’s played as a Sixer. His spot up 3 game is useless if he doesn’t have the confidence to assert himself and take that shot 8-9 times a game. When he played the 3, he would have one night like that out of 4. Other nights, if the early shots didn’t go down, he would stop taking them. I agree with his numbers but from the stand point of make up as a basketball player his spot up game actually shows up better when he’s playing the 4.

Or down the line, maybe it’s Jarrett Allen that becomes the swap piece. Nothing says the Cavs have to do something right away (though pending Sexton getting paid says they want to make a decision on that asset sooner as opposed to later).

I get that, but would think if they get Love it's solely to make salaries work. would think he eventually goes or, as you mentioned, Harris could be moved. If I'm Philly I make the deal if I like what I get besides Love. If I don't I wouldn't make the deal.
Because of the salaries matching for Simmons and Love it makes Love a huge aspect of the deal. Sixers aren’t moving this asset so they can free up cap with a buy out of Love. That’s literally the only potential value Love would present to the roster as constructed. Additionally, it seems odd for the Sixers to choose Love and deal Harris when Harris is the much better player. But Morey and the Sixers know Harris value around the league better than I do. Maybe it’s Harris salary plus Thybulle Maxey , a ton of firsts and not Simmons that could be the pathway to a bigger piece like Dame or Beal. But Love is a straight deal breaker in my eyes if I’m Morey. He’s bad on like 3 or 4 levels for the Sixers. It’s pretty rough when you assess a guy’s fit and the best you can come up with is a buy out to free cap space for a team that would still be close to capped out anyway post/buy out. I’ll put it on the interwebs now. If Morey uses the Simmons asset to bring back Kevin Love, law enforcement will know that I’m the guy who broke into Morey’s home and keyed all their cars and fed all his pets Ex-Lax

Not a lot in print about the relationship between those guys but Reddick had his best season as a pro his first year with the Sixers and Ben Simmons getting him looks was a big part of that.
