Just a rumor (don't even know source of rumor) but have to say this might be the closest I've seen to making some sense for the teams involved.....

3 team deal with cavs, sixers & hawks
Cavs get Simmons
Sixers get Love, sexton, reddish & 2 draft picks from cavs (top 5 protected)
Hawks get Maxey

I do believe a 3 way deal is the only way this does happen, saw one posted by SB Nation - Sixers and it was:

Garland, Rubio and Okoro +a pick for Simmons

I don't think the Cavs will trade Garland so I don't see that happening. Love kinda makes sense for multiple reasons, he won't have to play a ton of minutes so he can stay healthy, he is a good fit in Philly and he only has two more years on his contract. Plus, it matches salaries.

A couple teams can beat that offer like SAC (if they went Hield + Haliburton and picks) or Portland if they are willing to give up CJ and Philly wants CJ but it seems like they would want this in a trade.

1. Young player that has a high ceiling
2. Multiple 1st's but valuable ones. Both SAC and CLE can offer that. Late round picks don't mean much.
3. Veteran player that provides leadership.
4. One throw-in player with boom or bust potential, at worst a nice role player

Not sure they would want to give up Maxey but getting back a player like Sexton makes up for it and more. Love probably isn't the answer though bc Harris is suited much better to play the 4 in Philly imo.

agree with nearly all of this. I could see giving up garland as Sexton/Simmons probably a good fit, too.I think this offer would be better than Sac. but do not think we'd part with Sexton or Garland AND Okoro.

I think the Cavs are giving up too much here. The last thing a team should do is acquire a star player that probably doesnt want to be there in which I would imagine simmons doesnt want to go. On the other hand from what I heard the Cavs arent really interested in extending and paying Sexton so if you can get something out of him and get rid of Love you are really only losing garland and two first round picks.

Not sure if true, but supposedly Simmons is buds with Garland and listed Cavs as a team he'd like to go. I do think the Cavs would extend sexton but might think Simmons the much better fit.

I'd really prefer it be top 10 protected, but don't think they'd be top 5 (or top 10) if we made this deal without some serious lottery luck (well, I guess would be bad luck)

They don't list Garland in that trade. Personally I could see the Cavs also losing Okoro as opposed to the picks.

From reports he has said he would go to CLE and he is a good friend of Garland. Broussard actually said he would go to any of the 29 teams, he just wants out of Philly

I think they really like Okoro but who knows?

Okoro has looked great lately. He looks athletic, way more sure of himself with the ball. Id be very hesitant to trade him.

I mean- id absolutely trade him in a Simmons deal- but never with Garland.

Love, Sexton, Okoro, 1st round pick----- fine. But I dont think id go much, if any more.

Man, I want nothing to do with Kevin Love. He is always hurt. His skills have diminished and he isn’t a fit at all with Embiid and Tobias Harris. Love would have to be a stretch 4. That moves Harris to the 3 where he is half the player that he is at the 4. The 4 is where he belongs. He made great gains last year as a defender. He gives all that back if they ask him to guard 3s night in and night out. The only thing I prefer about this deal is Reddish. He has some upside. I think Garland is a better pick over Sexton for what the Sixers do. I think Sexton and Maxey are essentially the same kind of guy but Maxey is younger and cheaper and under control for longer. The guys on the Cavs I find intriguing are Okwara and Markinnen. Markinnen can’t be traded until 10/27 or later. Not a big deal. Morey and teams can come to a meeting of the minds and agree to work something out when Markinnen is eligible for trade.

Not sure how salaries work but I would want:
Garland Markinnen Okwara Reddish. If I have to give up the draft picks to get that, I’m good with that as I don’t think those picks will have a ton of value. When the Cavs add Simmons to their other pieces they’re out of the lottery and those picks are 15-18. Sixers give up Simmons and Maxey. But I would gladly forego Reddish to keep Maxey.
