This is precisely why it is so hard to win in a market like Minnesota.

They are forced to make win now moves with a roster that frankly isn’t close so that they might be able to keep KAT in a couple years.

So…

They trade a talented prospect for a mediocre veteran that might bring them a couple extra wins today.

They would be a lot better off trading KAT for Wiseman and Kuminga + salary.

to be fair, when they had their top guys all playing together minny was really really good.

I wish I could find the stat now.

but they had zero depth.

they turned non depth into a replacement for Rubio and and got Rubio to fill some of the hole at the 4.

but I get your point

I’m just not sure about culver. He’s the kind of guy who is easy to like, he does a lot of the little things.

but he’s a below average playmaker shooter and athlete for his position

both should start

and I don’t mind it. They took 2 non rotation guys and turned it into Beverly, who might be one if he’s not toast

I'm hoping for a Rubio buy-out and having him come play for the W's. Pipe dream, but Rubio would be a great fit for us.

He is still young but yeah, he is struggling big time. I'm so glad the Cavs had a SG at the time and didn't pick him.

Rubio is on the Cavs, he is not going anywhere. I think he is a great fit and veteran for the Cavs

Sexton, GArland, Okoro and Rubio aren't enough guards? lol.
Starting PG - Garland
Backup PG - Rubio
Starting SG - Sexton
SF/SG - Okoro

You do realize you need at least two PG's and two SG's. You can never have enough guards though, ask the Lakers.

RW, Ellington, Nunn, THT, Monk, Bazemore and LBJ can play PG

He got less than Ball.....and I think I'd take Smart over Ball.....even though Ball has improved his outside shooting a lot.

Eh, I get what you're saying but it doesn't really work that way. Ball is also overpaid for what he is. But also part of Ball's salary is what he could be. Smart is already established in his prime. He's not gonna get any better than what he already is.

@WiggyRuss sign Valentine or trade for Josh Hart or Cam Reddish? What do you think? Reddish played very well in the playoffs for Atlanta but seemed pretty bad in the regular season, shooting wise. Depends on what they would have to give up.
No doubt depends what it costs as I'm leery of going after a shooter who so far is really bad at shooting. Haven't checked myself yet but also heard someone else say he's a really bad defender.

But, he is still only 21.

I don’t get why Atlanta is so bent on dealing him.

I think he does a lot of things that they need when he is playing well, and his value probably isn’t super high because of the inconsistency.
Inconsistendy, I'm sure why looking to deal but get what you are likely saying. Why sell low?

Cannot say I really wanted him, but Rubio is a backup and has 1 year left and Okoro will be spending a lot of time at SF :noidea:

May feel like they can maximize his value because he's on a rookie deal.
Maybe...but thinking most important is he can do what he is supposed to do (shoot) and so far he cannot.

That said, I'd be intrigued if we took a flier. Might even give up a protected 1st....not sure about a core piece though.

So? That doesn't make him John Stockton. He's what, 27 or 28? He is who he is as a player right now.

Buyout towards the deadline more likely. There's no way a trade happens between the two teams because Rubio makes too much.

Yeah if it doesn't workout in CLE and they don't have a chance at a playoff spot I could see something like that
