Of course you never give away an asset during a rebuild. That goes without saying.

The 6ers went through the most aggressive tank in NBA history.

The Cavs have merely been bad since LeBron left.

The 2 situations are night and day.

That is all.
last year the Cavs had 22 wins and were tied for the 4th worst record in the NBA.

the year before they had 19 wins in a 66 game season and were tied for the 2nd worst record in the NBA.

the previous year they had 19 wins and were tied for 2nd worst record in the NBA

Id say thats pretty awful.

in the first 3 years of their rebuild the Sixers were

19 wins- tied for 2nd worst record in the NBA

18 wins- 3rd worst record in the NBA

10 wins- worst record in the NBA

not exactly a world of difference between 4th, 2nd, 2nd and 2nd, 3rd, 1st.

the following year Philly had 28 wins

please at least look shit up before spewing nonsense.

Yep

Don't get me started. Lacob paying all that cash to get Oubre Jr. was a move that I feel was in the best interest of the team (and showed a willingness to be competitive with Klay out). EVERYTHING after that was a clusterfck

Yea no issue with them getting him initially. Why the hell they didn't deal him at the deadline to just let him go is bonkers

Fucking Suns fans on Twitter want him back! Talking about wanting to give him the max to salary we don’t have!

He’s a decent wing, but not what he’s commanding on the market.

I’d go all in if I were the Cavs, what do you have to lose? Sit Mobley, and tank.

Seems like OKC is more aggressive.

I mean, Cavs finished pretty near bottom in 2 seasons and not far away from bottom in the 3rd. Guessing they had a feeling with all the young guys this would happen. Especially 2 young guards.

Sure, they didn't deal sexton and Garland like Philly did Jrue and MCW early but maybe they were not offered enough. I doubt Philly was moving those 2 just to move them.

All I'm sayin'

OH ABSOLUTELY.

Wiseman was lost. Defensively he lost his assignment many times. He was late in rotations. Offensively, he was also out of position a ton. He his hands were so bad last year overall, even though he seemed to get a bit better later.

He showed flashes of great play and potential, but 80% of the time he was out there it wasn't noticeable. His rebounding numbers were way too low for my liking.

But if there was any guy to give a pass to on the above, it's a big who only played 4 college games and got thrown into the fire of a complex offense and defensive scheme. He did much better later in the year when Kerr actually let him play in the P&R with Steph, which is apparently a novel idea to Kerr.

So upside still there. Flashes of great play there. TON OF WORK TO BE DONE to get there.
No doubt still time and he's really young. Likely will regret not taking Ball...perhaps bigtime, but wont be a Bowie/MJ regret.

Hoping we aren't one day saying same of Mobley and Suggs (or Kuminga).

I think if healthy even without Mobley the cavs would need some serious lottery luck as I think they'd still be a contender for the play-in.

There's a world of difference between aggressively tanking and just plain sucking.

The Sixers tanked, the Cavs sucked

There's really not. The cavs knew they wouldn't be very good playing 2 young guards, another 20-year-old then acquiring a 22-year old and started him. They needed to trade young guys just to trade them to "prove" they were tanking?

There's a difference between playing to win and playing to lose. That should be blatantly obvious.

Cavs have gone into every game playing to win. They just sucked, and will continue to do so for quite a while.

You realize pretty much every team is playing to win every game once on the court (including the 76ers)? figured most here knew this and didn't need it explained...you can be tanking and you can suck. Not mutually exclusive.

The Sixers were playing to lose. A lot of teams that have no chance in hell to make the playoffs do that, they just don't publicize it.

As for the Lakers, it was a mix of sucking and tanking. As soon as they realized they sucked that season, they tanked. Simple formula that happens a lot in the NBA

The records are irrelevant.

The 6ers blatantly tanked so badly that the league intervened and replaced their GM.

Have the Cavs done anything like that?

No.

They have just sucked.

Players do not step on the court trying to lose.

played 3 guys 20-22 then added another 23-year old to the starting lineup. Yeah...they kind of have.
